Former Governor of Old Kaduna State, Mallam Balarabe Musa has said that
\nNigeria is today being led by thieves who have stolen the wealth of the
\ncountry with impunity.<\/p>\n
Musa who spoke at his 77th Birthday event at his residence in kaduna
\nwondered why the Aviation Minister, Princess Stella Oduah who is accused
\nof involvement in the N225 Million Bullet proof BMW cars is yet to be
\nprosecuted.<\/p>\n
He accused President Goodluck Jonathan of Shielding her by traveling with
\nher and the National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki, to Israel.<\/p>\n
According to him,\u00a0 “in today\u2019s Nigeria we are led by thieves, except for a
\nfew who are still honest\u201d.<\/p>\n
He noted that anybody who is a councillor or legislator, governor or
\nPresident ends up serving self and becoming the richest person in the
\nconstituency that elected him.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat I am saying is that the current President has the potentials of
\nbecoming the richest person in Nigeria when he leaves office even if he is
\nthe son of a grasscutter hunter.\u201d<\/p>\n
On the President traveling with the embattled Aviation Minister, Musa
\nnoted \u201cwe believe that this was done to pave way for negotiations to take
\nplace so that she can be left off the hook. Why should the President
\ntravel with her and the NSA. Could he not have gone with another person?
\nTafawa Balewa and other past leaders would not have done that.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhy should the President of a country fighting corruption behave in such
\na way to suggest a cover-up in this case involving Stella Oduah? Whoever
\nappears to cover up a corrupt person is himself corruptible. This is
\nsuggestive of the fact that the government has practically insinuated that
\nthe fight against corruption is a hoarse\u201d.<\/p>\n
The second republic governor however said that for the nation to get out
\nof its present predicament, leaders must learn to pursue public interest
\nrather than personal interest that has become the order of public service
\nin the country.<\/p>\n
He said that rather than the system and leaders being based on public
