Taraba State House of Assembly on Tuesday screened six persons nominated to be commissioners by the state deputy governor Alhaji Garba Umar.<\/p>\n
The move came barely 24 hours after Governor Danmbaba Suntai obtained an order of the State High Court restraining the law makers from screening the commissionership nominees.<\/p>\n
However, brushing aside the court order, the law makers led by newly-appointed Speaker Josiah Kente screened a lawyer, Musa Tende, Mathias Danazumi Iliya Ali Legs and Ate Sale Kundu.<\/p>\n
In addition, the law makers screened Hajiya Batulu Mohammed, and Sa’adu Shehu Atuji.<\/p>\n
Speaker Kente told reporters that he was not aware of any order restraining the Assembly from confirming the commissionership nominees.<\/p>\n
Pointblanknews.com gathered that, having heard of the court order, the House leadership on Monday ordered the Assembly security men not to accept any document from any court.<\/p>\n
It was further gathered that the Assembly security personnel prevented the court bailiff from personally serving the Speaker. Some aides of the Speaker allegedly assaulted the court bailiff, who thereafter reportedly pasted copies of the order on the entrance to the Assembly.<\/p>\n
Tuesday’s confirmation of Umar’s nominees by the law makers may have further driven the wedge between Governor Suntai and his deputy, and heightened the political tensions in the state.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
