Several sounds of gunshots at two locations in the northwestern state of
\nKano Tuesday morning had heightened fear and rumour of terrorists attack
\nin the state, but reactions by the spokes man of the Joint Task Force
\n(JTF) in Kano confirmed that the gunshots were as a result of raids and
\nbreakthrough made during road block by the Nigerian forces.<\/p>\n
Pointblanknews.com gathered that two terrorists were arrested as they were
\nheading for operation in the Northeastern state of Zamfara through Kano.<\/p>\n
Captain Iweha said two of the suspected Boko Haram members were gunned
\ndown during a raid at Gayawa area of Ungogo Local Government Area.<\/p>\n
According to the statement : \u201cIn continuation of operations aimed at
\ncomplementing the efforts of operation of in the North Eastern part of the
\ncountry and as is customary with the JTF in Kano, the command wishes to
\nkeep the general public up to speed with developments.<\/p>\n
\u201cOn 18 November, at about 1930 hours (7:30 pm), following intelligence
\nbuild up, the JTF and personnel of the Department of State Service, Kano
\nCommand mounted a snap check point along Kankara \u2013 Sheme road in Katsina
\nState to intercept fleeing terrorists from operations in the north eastern
\naxis of the country.<\/p>\n
\u201cTwo terrorists were intercepted and apprehended on their way to Zamfara
\nState. Two AK 47 rifles, 4 magazines, and 68 rounds of 7.62mm special
\nammunition were recovered from them in a Nissan Sunny car.<\/p>\n
\u201cFollowing interrogation of the terrorists, a further cordon and search
\noperation was also conducted this morning, 19 November 2013, at about 0630
\nhours (6:30 am) at Gayawa general area of Ungogo Local Government Area.\u201d<\/p>\n
JTF revealed that items recovered from them include two AK 47 rifles, five
\nmagazines, 91 rounds of 7.62 special ammunition, among other items.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe proactive reactions of the JTF in Kano continue to deny terrorists
\nfreedom of action and from using the State as a launching pad to launch
\nattacks on other parts of the country, adding that the breakthrough was,
\n\u201cas a result of the support the JTF is receiving from members of the
\ngeneral public.<\/p>\n
\u201cMembers of the general public are enjoined to compliment the efforts of
\nthe JTF by carrying out thorough checks on the background of persons who
\nwish to let properties especially in out skirt areas. The JTF in Kano
\nwould not allow the state to be used as haven for terrorists. The appeals
\nof the JTF will continue to be complimented with the destruction of
\nproperties terrorists reside in and the arrests of their owners.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe effort of the JTF would not be successful without the cooperation of
\nthe residents of Kano. The JTF therefore calls on all residents of Kano
\nnot to relent in the fight against terrorist elements who are seeking
\nrefuge in the state by reporting any suspicious persons regardless of
\ngender for immediate action to prevent the loss of lives and properties.<\/p>\n
\u201cAdditionally, members of the general public are please enjoined to go
\nabout their normal lawful businesses without any fear and to contact the
\nJTF through its telephone numbers in the event of any distress for rapid
