A whooping N3 billion Subsidy Reinvestment Programme (SURE-P) money allocated to Jigawa state government have been traced to the personal accounts owned and operated by the of sons and cronies of the embattled Jigawa State Governor Alhaji Sule Lamido.<\/p>\n
Two of the Lamido’s sons, Aliyu and Mustapha, are presently before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for an alleged fraud to the tune of N11 billion.<\/p>\n
The N3 Billion is aside the N11 Billion Local Government funds traced by investigators to the company accounts owned by the sons of the embattled Governor.<\/p>\n
Investigators had listed companies where funds meant for Local Governments in Jigawa State have been taken to as: Bamaina Alluminium Limited, Bamaina Holdings Limited, Bamaina Company Nigeria Limited, Rawda Integrated Services Limited, Speeds International Limited and Saby Integrated Nigeria Limited.<\/p>\n
Security sources hinted that rather than remit the SURE-P funds to beneficiaries; the Lamidos converted the funds to personal use.<\/p>\n
“We have discovered from our preliminary investigations that funds from SURE-P have been accessed by the suspects. As a matter of fact, the funds were put to personal use,” a security source that would not want to be named disclosed.<\/p>\n
According to the Source, the SURE-P funds traced to the Lamido’s accounts were used to fund political activities involving the governor and his associates.<\/p>\n
“Investigations are still on-going but we have enough evidence to conclude that they have not only appropriated the SURE-P funds but have also used part for political purposes” said a source.<\/p>\n
The Governor is one of the arrowheads of the G7 Governors and the rebel PDP who have demanded that President Goodluck Jonathan stop the EFCC from going after the former Kwara state governor, Bukola Saraki or any of their members.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
