A Ringim Magistrates\u2019 Court in Jigawa on Wednesday ordered the arrest of Sen. Danladi Sankara and his son, Auwalu, for alleged contempt.<\/p>\n
Sankara represents Jigawa North-West senatorial district in the Senate.<\/p>\n
A chieftain of All Progressives Congress, Alhaji Farouq Aliyu, had filed a suit against the senator and others for alleged destruction of his property during September assembly bye-election.<\/p>\n
Aliyu alleged that Sankara conspired, incited others to commit assault, mischief and causing grievous hurt and destruction of his property.<\/p>\n
At the resumed hearing on Wednesday the three accused persons were absent.<\/p>\n
The counsel to the complainant, Malam Aliyu Umar, urged the court to issue a bench warrant for the arrest of the three accused.<\/p>\n
Aliyu said the accused persons were duly served with the court summon, but they still failed to turn up in the court neither did they send representative.<\/p>\n
\u201cUnder the circumstance, I hereby urge the court to apply Section 70(1) CPC Laws of Jigawa State to order for their arrest,\u201d Umar said.<\/p>\n
In his ruling, the Magistrate, Malam Nuhu Aminu, noted that the proof and affidavit of services were served on the accused by the court orderly, Surajo Muhammed.<\/p>\n
Aminu said the court which commenced sitting at about 9.00am was held up until 9.40 am due to the absence of the accused persons.<\/p>\n
He said the court was inclined to agree with the prayer of the counsel to the complainants and therefore, ordered the arrest of the three accused persons by the police.<\/p>\n
