Abia state governor, Chief Theodore Orji has vowed to ensure that his successor emerges from the Ukwa\/Ngwa zone of the state<\/p>\n
Speaking at a grand\u00a0 royal reception in his honour by the people of\u00a0 Osisioma Ngwa, Isiala Ngwa South, and Isiala Ngwa North Local councils under the umbrella of \u2018Umunneato people\u2019 at the Ngwa High School field, Aba, Orji said it was the right thing to be done in the
\ninterest of fair play and unity of the state.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Ukwa\/ Ngwa people have never been governor since Abia state was created. In the interest of fair play, peace and unity of the state, my successor will come from Ukwa\/Ngwa zone. Abia state does not belong to only one section. Everybody must be given a sense of belonging.<\/p>\n
There is no division in Abia, what I do to the Ibeku man; I will also do to the man from Osisioma Ngwa. Power must move to the Ukwa\/ Ngwa axis\u00a0 because it is the right to do. In Enugu and other states, it is being done. No zone will be marginalized,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The governor said his greatest joy was the uniting of all stakeholders who hitherto worked at cross purposes, into the PDP.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m happy all the stakeholders have been united, this is my greatest achievement because time was when Abia politicians belonged to different camps. You heard Abuja faction and others but today, we have come together and the state is better for it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Earlier in an address by the Umunneato people presented by the chairman of the planning committee, Barr. Chibuike Nwokeukwu, congratulated the governor for his numerous legacy projects, youth empowerment programme and his avowed promise to hand over to the Ukwa\/Ngwa zone in 2015.<\/p>\n
The people in a motion moved by Chief John Nwangborogwu and seconded by Chief G. O.C Kanu, adopted the governor as their sole candidate for the Abia Central senatorial seat in 2015.<\/p>\n
Orji thanked the people for the honour done him and promised to look in to the growing calls for him to represent the area in the senate.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have heard your request but it is a very tempting one. Temptation can come any time. What you are asking me to do was not in my agenda. I have fashioned myself somewhere else. The other day Abia central did what you are doing today. I can\u2019t give you yes or no, you will give me time to go and check the pros and cons, consult and come back to give you a definite answer at the appropriate time.\u201d<\/p>\n
