Kano state government will construct the first multi-storey car park in
\nthe state capital at Shahuci area, in addition to two under pass roads at
\nGadon Kaya and Kabuga junctions in Kano metropolis, at the cost of
\nbillions of Naira.<\/p>\n
The state governor, Rabi\u2019u Musa Kwankwaso disclosed this (Monday), in an
\naddress at the Annual General Meeting of the Nigerian Society of
\nEngineers, NSE, at the National Conference Center, Abuja.<\/p>\n
The governor, who received the society\u2019s Presidential Merit Award during
\nthe ceremony, announced that his administration has also awarded contract
\nfor a 1.76 km flyover around Abubakar Rimi Market area aimed at easing
\ncongestion. This, he noted, is one of the longest flyover bridges in the
\nWest African sub-regions.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnother historic project is the Jakara river project. This is a 6.67km
\ndual carriageway being constructed on top of the river using buried
\ncircular conduits and an asphaltic concrete on top with streetlights and
\ntraffic lights\u2019\u2019, Governor\u00a0 Kwankwaso revealed.<\/p>\n
These, he pointed out, are some of the several life-changing projects
\nbeing executed by his administration in the last two and half years, which
\nshould be of great interest to Nigerian engineers.<\/p>\n
On the honour bestowed on him by the NSE, the governor said it is
\ngratifying and a testimony that his professional colleagues recognize his
\nmodest contribution to the development of the engineering profession.<\/p>\n
Governor Kwankwaso said the challenges he faced as an engineer have
\nstrengthen him in coping with many obstacles he faced in the last 20 years
\nas a politician and have helped him in initiating many developmental
