President of the Senate, Senator David Mark has again implored Nigerians to put aside ethnic, political and religious differences and collaborate with each other to build a united and peaceful nation where every body will feel free and safe.<\/p>\n
In the same vain, he counseled politicians against making inflammatory statements or casting aspersions on opponents ahead of the 2015 polls, saying that politics should be a call to serve for the public good and not a call for battle.<\/p>\n
Senator Mark in a goodwill message to Nigerians marking the EID-Maulud said the celebration of the birth of Prophet Mohammed should renew our faith and bond of unity as one people , one nation, our diversities not withstanding.<\/p>\n
The Senate President noted the myriads of challenges facing the nation and submitted ” With the cooperation and collective efforts of all- the government and the governed, we can surmount our problems. We can achieve this by adopting a give and take approach “.<\/p>\n
He admitted that some events in the recent time unarguably poses a challenge to our corporate existence, but insisted that “the unity and indivisibility of Nigeria cannot be compromised for anything because we have more to gain than otherwise.”<\/p>\n
Senator Mark urged Nigerians to be apostles of love and peaceful coexistence between and among citizens so that we can be truly acculturated as one people bound by a common destiny.<\/p>\n
He assured that the National Assembly will continue to stand by the people pointing out that all legislations would be guided by the yearnings and aspirations of Nigerians .<\/p>\n
Senator Mark also assured that the legislature will support and collaborate with the other arms of government in the task of service delivery to the people.<\/p>\n
