A car bomb exploded Tuesday afternoon in Maiduguri killing at least 17 people.Reuters reported that the bomb which was planted in a taxi exploded outside the state television offices.<\/p>\n
Borno Police Commissioner, Lawan Tanko confirmed the incident to Reuters.\u201dMy men counted 17 dead as at 2:00 pm and they are still counting. I have instructed my men to go to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital and the state specialist hospital to verify if there are others\u201d ,he said<\/p>\n
The news agency also quoted Aisha Hassan who resides in Maiduguri as having said :\u201dI saw two boys on the ground and their bodies cut into pieces, two other cars immediately caught fire and I ran away because there was too much blood\u201d .
\nAnd angry youths reportedly took to the street in protest after the attack.According to the report, the youths are \u201caccusing politicians of failing to curb violence in Maiduguri\u201d.Soldiers had to shoot into the air in order to cordon off the explosion site, the report said.<\/p>\n
