Member representing Ohaji\/ Egbema\/ Oguta\/Oru West of Imo state in the House of Representatives, Hon. Gerald Irona has received a 30 day ultimatum to render account of his stewardship or risk recall.<\/p>\n

The ultimatum contained in a communiqu released by the Leadership Forum of the Constituency at the end of its meeting held at Newton Hotel, Owerri, stated the lawmaker has failed to provide effective representation to the constituency since he was elected.<\/p>\n

The Forum accused Irona of not sponsoring any bill or move any motion in the House stressing that the development has denied the Ohaji\/ Egbema\/ Oguta\/ Oru West people of the expected dividends of democracy.<\/p>\n

That as the only oil producing federal constituency in Imo state, our representative in the National Assembly has failed or has been unable to adequately defend our interest as an oil producing constituency and this is evidenced by the fact that under his watch, over 80% of the projects emanating from the NDDC meant for the development of our constituency has been sited outside the federal constituency, the Communique read in part.<\/p>\n
The Forum also lamented that besides the annual sharing of rice and other items at Christmas periods, Irona has failed to call a town hall meeting of the constituency to brief the people on his activities at the House.<\/p>\n

According to the Forum, the Leadership Forum of this Constituency has resolved to give Hon. Gerald Irona a 30 day ultimatum to convene a meeting of the constituency where he will give a comprehensive account of his stewardship. At the expiration of the 30 days notice, we shall take steps to commence the process of his recall from the National Assembly.<\/p>\n

The lawmaker was also alleged to have abandoned his duties to members of his party, the PDP as he is said to have shunned all efforts to reposition the party and make it formidable for the 2015 polls.<\/p>\n
