DELTA State Governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan has warned all his political
\nappointees to desist from granting political interviews.<\/p>\n
The Governor who gave the warning yesterday (Sunday) while speaking at a
\nmemorial thanksgiving service for Pa Donald Ochei and Mama Juliet Ochei,
\nparents of the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon.
\nVictor Ochei at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Onicha-Olona, Aniocha North
\nlocal government area of Delta State, said anything capable of overheating
\nthe polity ahead of the 2015 general elections must be avoided.<\/p>\n
“As far as I am concerned, no political appointee in Delta State should
\ngrant political interview so that we do not overheat the system, you can
\ngrant interviews on the official duties of your department, ministry or
\nagency”, the Governor stated.<\/p>\n
Besides, Uduaghan noted that with the dates of the general elections
\ndrawing near, political office seekers should not be distracted by lies
\nand rumours but charged them to be focused in their quest to achieve their
\npolitical ambition.<\/p>\n
In particular, he charged the various aspirants to go about their
\nbusinesses in a peaceful and lawful manner as the government would not
\ntolerate acts or utterances that were capable of breaching the peace of
\nthe state.<\/p>\n
“We should not say things that will heat up the polity; our utterances
\nshould be matured, edifying and guarded. God Almighty is the one that put
\nus in positions, no matter what you do if God says a person will enter an
\noffice, that person will make it to that office”, he stated.<\/p>\n
The Governor used the occasion to urge Nigerians to imbibe the virtues of
\nthe late parents of Rt. Hon. Ochei, asserting: “Be principled, truthful
\nand honourable.”<\/p>\n
While thanking God for the lives the deceased persons lived, the Governor
\ncommended the children of the late Ocheis for honouring their parents.<\/p>\n
The Bishop of Asaba Diocese of the Anglican Communion, Rt. Revd. Justus
\nMogekwu had during a sermon at the service which was attended by people of
\nall walks of life, said the late Ocheis lived lives worthy to be emulated
