Hon. Dakuku Peterside has refuted the deliberate falsehood and malicious
\nmischief being circulated by the Rivers State Chapter of PDP to the effect
\nthat he blocked the clearance of Maj Gen Kenneth Minimah as Chief of Army
\nStaff in the National Assembly adding that, nothing can be further from
\nthe truth.<\/p>\n
In a statement made available to NF-Reports today Hon. Peterside said,
\n\u201cThis is patently cheap lies by the PDP to curry favour from their
\npaymasters in Abuja that have consistently promoted division amongst
\npeople and elevated impunity to new heights\u201d.<\/p>\n
He explained that, \u201cCommon sense will tell any broad-minded person that I
\nam one person out of 360 members of the House of Representatives that
\ncannot, on my own, block the clearance of anybody in the National Assembly
\nmore so my constituent, friend and relative. My duty in the National
\nAssembly is primarily lawmaking and representational. That duty of
\nrepresentation I owe primarily to my constituents including Gen. Mininmah
\nwhom I have related with over the years and have come to have great
\nrespect for as a gentleman, honest and hardworking patriot. To make it
\nmore laughable and expose the ignorance of the PDP desperadoes, Gen
\nMinimah and his colleagues have been cleared by the senate and house
\ncommittee on Defence; therefore, I cannot understand where this story of
\nblocking Gen Minimah’s clearance is coming from\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis further exposes the PDP Rivers State as a bunch of confused people
\nwho are desperate to drag decent people to join them in the mud they have
\npulled themselves in. I have had a solid relationship with Gen Kenneth
\nMinimah for fifteen years running and our relationship can only wax
\nstronger. PDP owes me an apology. I urge all members of society to ignore
\nthem as they do not deserve any attention\u201d the lawmaker concluded.<\/p>\n
