\nMuhammadu Buhari has accused President Goodluck Jonathan of witch-hunting
\nover the arrest of the two sons of Jigawa Governor, Mr. Sule Lamido for
\nfraud.<\/p>\n
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had arrested two sons of
\nJigawa state governor, Sule Lamido, over an alleged N10 Billion fraud in
\nNovember 2013.<\/p>\n
Over N10 Billion was allegedly transferred from Jigawa state government
\naccounts into the accounts in which Sule Lamido and his two sons have
\ninterest from 2007 till date.<\/p>\n
The Commission is said to have traced these transfers to 10 companies
\nwhere Lamido and sons are directors and signatories to the account.<\/p>\n
The companies include Bamaina Alluminium Limited, Bamaina Holdings
\nLimited, Bamaina Company Nigeria Limited, Rawda Integrated Services
\nLimited, Speeds International Limited and Saby Integrated Nigeria Limited.<\/p>\n
But in an interview with Kaduna based Liberty Radio monitored by our
\ncorrespondent, said the decision to arrest the sons of the Governor is
\nprimarily aimed at gagging oppositions to the Presidency.<\/p>\n
\u201cLike I have said, we have to properly secure and manage this country. You
\ncannot deny citizens their rights to express their own opinion or you
\nallow some people to brazenly threaten the cooperate existence of the
\ncountry and instead of inviting them and asking them to explain themselves
\nto the nation, they are given a ride in Presidential jets.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen others do it, you go and lock them up or you harass them. That is
\nnot the way to do things. For example, when the seven governors decided to
\nbreak out from the PDP and we went and visited them; five of the governors
\ntook the risk. One of the governors still have problem with the police,
\nhis children were arrested, the bank officials that transacted business
\nwith his children were locked up.
\n\u201cThose are children of governors. You can imagine what will then happen to
\nchildren of ordinary Nigerians. There is this problem of insecurity in the
\nland, both physical and material which the All Progressive Congress is
\nabout to whip out God willing.\u201d<\/p>\n
The APC chieftain said his believe for multi-Party democracy is reason why
\nhe often time resort to the court after losing Presidential elections.<\/p>\n
He said \u201cwe have been to court three times in 2003, 2007 and 2011 not
\nbecause we were convinced that we were going to win. We went because we
\nwant to make sure that this multi-party democracy takes firm grip on
\nNigerians. If we can come and go, the system will be strong enough to
\nguarantee security for this country and guarantee prosperity for this
\ncountry. This is our objective.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll we are fighting for is to have proper democracy. What I mean is that
\nwhatever people say, whether they reflect briefly on it or not, Nigerians
\nare now well aware of their rights and what they expect from government.
\nIn APC, we have reduced it to two your security sound management.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have to secure this country and manage it properly. I think people
\nhave suffered enough, they are now prepared to listen and I believe they
\nare listening and are cooperating. We have been convinced that since 1991
\nwhen the Soviet Union collapsed without a shot being fired that multi
\nparty democratic system is superior. But elections must be free and fair.<\/p>\n
