The 2011 governorship candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance<\/p>\n
(APGA) in Abia state, Chief Reagan Ufomba on Friday caused commotion in Aba when he stormed the venue of the 85th birthday celebration of the former chairman of the state council of traditional rulers, Eze Isaac Ikonne.<\/p>\n

The event had gone midway when Ufomba and his long entourage with siren arrived in a carnival-like manner shocked the Abia Deputy Governor, Col.<\/p>\n
Emeka Ananaba (rtd) who was already seated.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The occasion which was also the 41 years anniversary of the traditional ruler on the throne was held at the Boys\u2019 Technical College, Osusu on Faulks road, Aba.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The security agents attached to the Deputy Governor made several efforts to stop them but were rebuffed as the siren grew louder. Ufomba and his supporters alighted form their vehicles and started singing anti PDP songs and marching around the arena to greet seated guest, some of who were already disgusted with the action.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Even the appeals made by the eldest son of the monarch that the event is not a political one could not sway Ufomba from disrupting the order of the event with his supporters.<\/p>\n

As the former APGA governorship candidate and his supporters danced round the arena, the deputy governor\u2019s aides were seen whispering to him as he sat bemused, watching events. When the songs died down, Ufomba later went to Ananaba\u2019s seat and greeted him before making his way to the corner where a seat was reserved for him.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the occasion, Ananaba who extolled the virtues of the traditional ruler, urged supporters of the APGA governorship candidate in<\/p>\n
2011 to conduct themselves well, stressing that despite political differences, people of the state were still brothers and sisters.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
A cross section of people who spoke to our correspondent at the event condemned the action of Ufomba and his supporters who turned the anniversary celebration into a political one. They commended the maturity of the deputy governor for accommodating what would have turned into a crisis.<\/p>\n

In an interview with journalists at the end of the event, Ufomba who bagged a chieftaincy title boasted that what took place at the occasion proved that he won the 2011 Abia governorship election, but was denied victory.<\/p>\n

According to him, \u201cLike everybody who does not have the anointing, this government will continue to misbehave and that is why when they go to the people, the people will reject them through various means, by booing at them and by throwing sachets of water at them and that is what you get for sin. Like they say, the wages of sin is death but here the wages of stolen mandate is bad governance and booing.\u201d<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Ufomba further boasted that APGA is set to win the governorship position in the state in the next election.<\/p>\n
