Leaders of the defunct Congress of Progressive Change, CPC in Ogun State
\nhave expressed serious concern about the way the national leadership of
\nthe party has allegedly skewed party harmonisation and membership
\nregistration against former governorship candidates, who are also state
\nLeaders of their legacy parties, while completely handing over the
\nprocess to state Governors.<\/p>\n
The caucus of the defunct CPC in Ogun state who made this plea on Sunday
\nin Ago-Iwoye, while observing the on-going APC membership registration in
\nthe state, also called on Governor Ibikunle Amosun to urgently caution
\nmembers of his SIA group in the state not to divide the party ahead of the
\nforthcoming party congresses in the state.<\/p>\n
They contend that such arrangement may affect the desired inclusiveness
\nand cohesion critical for party harmonisation and strength as one side is
\ntacitly placed in control of party structure from the outset, leaving
\nothers marginalised.<\/p>\n
“We however wish to call on the national leadership of APC to quickly
\nintervene in the ongoing marginalisation and unnecessary exclusion of
\nmembers of the defunct CPC in the present drive to build a virile party
\nin Ogun state”<\/p>\n
They said the activities of members of the Governor’s camp, placed in
\ncharge of membership registration in most units of the state, if not
\nurgently cautioned might jeopardise the strength and chances of the party
\nat the next general elections<\/p>\n
According to a statement signed by the State Secretary of the Defunct
\nparty, Evangelist Godwin Odeyemi they said “it was counterproductive and
\ntotally mindless for members of the Governors camp from the defunct ACN to
\nhoard registration materials and prevent other co founders of the party at
\nthe grassroots from registering for the party, when there is a greatein
\nmost battle ahead of the party at the 2015 general elections”<\/p>\n
The caucus however cited cases of Atikori ward in Ijebu North among other
\ncentres in the state where members of the governor camp have been forced
\nto hijacked the registration and prevented other elements from registering
\nfor the party.<\/p>\n
They said it took the physical intervention of the State deputy governor,
\nPrince Segun Adesegun and Senator Gbenga Kaka before normalcy could be
\nrestored in some of the registration centres<\/p>\n
“As Leaders of the defunct CPC in Ogun, we do wish to express deep worry
\nabout how the Governor’s camp has been going about nurturing this new
\nparty in the state.<\/p>\n
Therefore, we of the defunct CPC will henceforth resist vehemently any
\nattempt by any individual or group of individuals to hijack our collective
\npatrimony in the APC because we are all co founders and equal stakeholders
