The Governorship candidate of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria in 2011 in Kwara State, Mr. Dele Belgore(SAN), on Friday announced his defection from the All Progressive Congress to the Peoples Democratic Party.<\/p>\n
Belgore, while speaking with journalists in Abuja, also accused the Interim National Leadership of the APC of imposition, saying that the leaders of the party at all levels were being imposed.<\/p>\n
Apparently referring to his displacement from the party by the former Governor of the state, Sen. Bukola Saraki and his loyalists, Belgore said it was wrong for \u201cthe owner of a home to be displaced to give a strange sense of friendship, and therefore handover the soul of the party to strangers.\u201d<\/p>\n
Belogre lamented that the process that brought out the leadership of the party in his state was made to favour some people at the detriment of those he said built the party.<\/p>\n
He said, \u201cOur people do not believe that people are made for a platform. Rather, they believe that platforms are made for the people. No positive change is possible where we are to co-exist with the same elements that the people of Kwara want to dislodge.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo our supporters, the APC has let us down. We have therefore decided not to be part of an arrangement that put us in the same ship driven by the oppressors.<\/p>\n
\u201cAPC is undemocratic and more and more people will defect from the party. We are therefore joining the PDP, a party, as fate now has it, has shed very core of liabilities that made us ran away from it.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are joining hands with other like minds in the PDP who were unjustly shut out because of their progressive bent to strengthen the party and to endear it to the people of Kwara state.\u201d<\/p>\n
