Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan has said that no political
\noffice was worth a human life, charging politicians to refrain from
\nbitterness and violence as they jostle for vantage position ahead of the
\n2015 general elections
\nGovernor Uduaghan who gave the charge Friday night at Asaba while speaking
\nat a Special Valentine Day event tagged “An Evening with the First Family”,
\ninformed politicians that power belongs to God, who freely gives it to whom
\nHe pleases.
\n“It is good to have political ambition, but remember that God gives power
\nto whom He pleases. If you contest any political position and it did not
\nwork out, accept it as the will of God and God’s plan for you. He may have
\nbetter plans for you in future”, he stated.
\nContinuing he said: “No political position is worth dying for and we should
\nnot encourage any person to die for our political aspirations. Remember we
\nwill be held accountable for our actions and inactions in this world when
\nwe die “.
\nHe urged Nigerians especially the political class in the spirit of the
\nseason to show love to one another and refrain from doing harm to others
\nadding that “if we love one another we will not harm each other either with
\nphysical arms or with our tongues”.
\nThe governor enjoined couples to use the Valentine Day celebration to renew
\ntheir marriage vows and love for one another as well as share the blessings
\nof love as this would bring them closer and make their relationship more
\nstable.
\nAlso, the Governor used the occasion to urge Nigerians to be involved in
\none form of physical exercise or another so as to keep fit and healthy
\nstressing that healthy family units means a healthy society.
\nEarlier Deaconess Roli Nere Uduaghan, Delta State First lady and organiser
\nof the programme said that the event was put together for couples to
\nappreciate and share the blessings of love of God on this special day.
\nShe used the occasion to invite the persons present to participate in a
\nKeep Fit exercise tagged “A Walk for Life” .
\nHighlights of the ceremony were a brief exhortation by Rev. DR. Udi on the
\ntopic “Where Will You Spend Eternity”, comedy shows, drama piece and dance
