Son of Governor T.A Orji of Abia State, Eng. Chinedu Orji, has expressed shocked over the killing of his cousin, Mr. John Ndubuka \u00a0over the weekend .<\/p>\n
Orji told Pointblanknews.com that disgruntled politicians from the state\u00a0has cached on the painful and tragic incident to smear him and accuse him\u00a0of murder.<\/p>\n
He said politicians who have been serially disgraced by the landmark\u00a0achievements recorded by his father in the state are bent on eliminating\u00a0members of his family and him as the main target.<\/p>\n
\u201cDisgruntled politicians who have been stripped and exposed for what they\u00a0are and who have been disgraced by the monumental achievements of the\u00a0Ochendo Government wants to eliminate me and my family,\u201d Orji told\u00a0Pointblanknews.com.<\/p>\n
Some media reports had claimed that the Governor\u2019s son ordered the killing\u00a0of his cousin, over a disagreement.<\/p>\n
In an interview with Pointblanknews.com, Orji disclosed that few months\u00a0ago, he had sent a petition to the security agencies alerting them of\u00a0threat to his life. He said, \u201cthis incident is a clear pointer that my\u00a0life is in danger.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to him, \u201c I was in the car leaving the venue of the reception\u00a0for his Excellency when I was informed that the Governor\u2019s convoy was\u00a0already ahead.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhile we were waiting, I heard a gun shot, I asked where the gun shot was\u00a0coming from. It was then I was told John was on the floor. I saw him\u00a0clutching to his chest and I immediately called Dr. Chukwu of the Federal\u00a0Medical Center and others for help<\/p>\n
\u201cI nearly fainted seeing my cousin struggling for life but he was pronounced\u00a0dead by the Doctors. He was killed 
from an unknown gun source
\nwhile leaving the venue at the end of a civic reception.<\/p>\n
Tracing the family relationship, Orji said, \u201cJohn and I are from the same\u00a0hamlet, same family. After his Youth Service, my father gave him a job and\u00a0I then asked him to join me and we have been together since then. We never\u00a0had any argument. He was a very lively fellow<\/p>\n
\u201cHow can I kill a family member, someone we have built from the scratch?\u00a0He has a son and a pregnant wife.<\/p>\n
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Mr. Geoffrey\u00a0Ogbonna, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), confirmed the incident,\u00a0saying three suspects had been taken into custody while investigation had\u00a0commenced to establish the source and motive behind the shooting.<\/p>\n
But the state Commissioner for Information, Mr. Eze Chikamnayo, told\u00a0journalists at a press conference yesterday that given the circumstances\u00a0of the shooting, nothing could be ruled out, including assassination.<\/p>\n
According to him, a policeman sent to disperse the surging crowd blocking\u00a0the flow of vehicles initially fired two shots in the air but the third\u00a0and fatal shot could not be traced.\u00a0
\u00a0\u201cThere is nothing to rule out at this time. It could have been an\u00a0assassination attempt,\u201d he said, adding that the victim was shot from the\u00a0back while he was about entering the vehicle.\u00a0
Chikamnayo stated that the governor\u2019s son could have been the\u00a0target of the gunshot considering the trajectory and the crowd of youths\u00a0surging towards their idol, fondly known as Ikuku oma (Sweet breeze).<\/p>\n
However, Orji said while the family continues to mourn and grief over the death of Ndubuka, the family will be willing to do all it takes to assist the police in unraveling the killers and the motives.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
