Governor Seriake Dickson has given the Capital city Development
\nAuthority (CCDA) the mandate to employ fifty persons in the
\nDevelopment Control Department of the Authority.
\nThe Governor gave the mandate during the commissioning of the
\nAuthority’s Development Control Equipment at the premises of the CCDA
\nalong Sani Abacha Expressway, Yenagoa.
\nAccording to Governor Dickson, the purpose of the equipment is to make
\nYenagoa a decent, modern and well planned capital city, stressing
\nthat, Government was determined to change the face of Yenagoa from a
\nslum to a befitting city.
\n“And, that is why you can see all the developments going on; road and
\nbridge construction and other infrastructure”.
\nAll these will come to naught if the residents of Yenagoa do not
\nunderstand our vision and where we are taking our state to” the
\nGovernor explained.
\nHe reminded the Capital City Development Authority of their
\nresponsibility to ensure that building permits are issued to persons
\nwho comply with the law and those who refuse to comply are also
\npunished as stipulated by the law.
\nHon. Dickson equally mandated the CCDA to ensure that structures that
\ndo not conform to the regulations of the Yenagoa master plan are
\ndemolished.
\nThe Executive Secretary of CCDA, Chief Iboro Ige Idaba and his team
\nwere directed to formally invite developers to submit their building
\nplans within a stipulated time frame in line with the new mandate.
\nThe Governor who was issued 3 application forms for his building plan,
\ncalled on all Bayelsans and residents of Yenagoa, who have property to
\nvisit CCDA to regularise their building plans.
\nIn his remarks, the Commissioner for the Capital City Development
\nAuthority, Mr. Zuwa Konuga, disclosed that the equipment was provided
\nto enable the Authority to perform its duty maximally.
\nGovernor Dickson also undertook an inspection tour of the sand filling
\nof the Ox-bow lake area, construction of infrastructure as well as the
\nnew pavilion project.<\/p>\n
