The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed shock over the
\nannouncement by the APC that it has engaged the services of a foreign
\nfirm, AKPD Message and Media to boost its electoral chances in the 2015
\nelections, adjuring Nigerians to resist this attempt by the party to throw
\nthe nation back to imperialism, 54 years after independence.<\/p>\n
A statement by the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Chief Olisa
\nMetuh said this was not only a clear justification of its stand that the
\nAPC is anti-Nigeria but \u00a0another insult on the hard working citizens of
\nour dear country.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn engaging the services of a foreign firm, the APC has shown that it
\ndoes not have faith in our people, our indigenous consultancy firms and
\nthe teeming well qualified, world acclaimed Nigerian professionals and
\ntechnocrats. \u00a0Just as the leopard cannot change its spots so also is the
\nAPC unable to hide its true colour \u00a0as an anti-people organisation, tied
\nto the apron string of foreign interests in utter disdain for fellow
\nNigerians and the age long clamour for local content.”<\/p>\n
\u201cThat APC has an inner contempt for Nigerians is no longer hidden. Its
\nlatest action is not only an affront to nationalism but a weird embrace of
\nneo-colonialism at a time national pride and assertiveness \u00a0have assumed a
\nrule of engagement in global politics. \u00a0We are afraid that neo-colonialism
\nis the guiding ethos of the APC’s quest to rule Nigeria. It is now
\napparent that the leadership of this opposition party may have perfected
\nplans to use same foreign interests to siphon national resources and
\nreverse the pro-national socio-economic foundation laid by the founding
\nfathers of Nigeria.”<\/p>\n
According to the PDP , \u201cthere is no way the APC can justify this crime
\nagainst our people. Nigerians are discerning enough to see the clever
\nattempt to cover this monumental insult by dropping the name of President
\nObama, who was duly re-elected by the popular votes of the
\npeople of the United States as a beneficiary of \u00a0this consultancy service.”<\/p>\n
“This ulterior motive of the APC explains the reason it has mindlessly
\nbeen \u00a0opposing and attacking \u00a0all the people oriented projects and
\npolicies of the PDP-led Federal Government which have enthroned an
\nunprecedented empowerment of indigenous firms, an economic agenda strongly
\nembedded \u00a0in the manifesto of our great party, seeking the transfer wealth
\nfrom public institutions to the private sector.”<\/p>\n
The statement added that “unlike the APC whose ideological thrust is to
\nrelegate Nigerians and their indigenous firms, the PDP believes in
\nNigerians and will continue to work with them and to create the enabling
\nenvironment for hardworking private individuals and indigenous firms to
\nthrive in all fields of endeavor including media, manufacturing, trade,
\ncommerce and other critical sectors of the economy.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis explains why companies like Intel Services, Globacom, AIT, Dangote,
\nOando, UBA and a host of other ingenious firms have continued to excel and
\ncompete favourably with their peers all over the world, a trend the APC
\nwants to scuttle\u201d.<\/p>\n
The PDP therefore urged Nigerians to continue to note the unpatriotic and
\nanti-people actions of the APC. It said all well meaning Nigerians must
\nrise up and resist the APC adding that \u201ca party which has clearly shown
\nthat it has no regard for the talents of the people it seeks to govern can
