President Goodluck Jonathan has written to congratulate Nigeria\u2019s first
\ndemocratically-elected Executive President, Alhaji Shehu Shagari on the
\noccasion of his 89th birthday, tomorrow, Tuesday, February 25, 2014.<\/p>\n
In a letter addressed to the former President at his residence in Sokoto,
\nPresident Jonathan praised his continued dedication to the unity and
\nwell-being of the nation.<\/p>\n
\u201cOn behalf of the Government and people of the Federal Republic of
\nNigeria, and on my own behalf, I write to felicitate with you as you
\ncelebrate your 89th birthday anniversary.<\/p>\n
\u201cMay Almighty Allah ceaselessly prosper you and bless you with robust
\nhealth as you continue to give of yourself in the service of our dear
\nnation,\u201d President Jonathan wrote.<\/p>\n
President Jonathan wished Alhaji Shehu Shagari a very happy birthday and
\nalso conveyed assurances of his highest consideration and warm personal
\nregards to the former President.<\/p>\n
The President has also written to commiserate with the Emir of Kano,
\nAlhaji Ado Bayero on the death last Friday of the Tafidan Kano, Alhaji
\nTijani Abubakar.<\/p>\n
\u201cOn behalf of the Government and people of the Federal Republic of
\nNigeria, and on my own behalf, I write to commiserate with Your Highness,
\nthe people of Kano Emirate, and the entire people of Kano State on this
\nsad loss,\u201d President Jonathan wrote.<\/p>\n
He prayed that Almighty Allah will grant the Emir, Alhaji Tijani\u2019s family
\nand the people of Kano the fortitude to cope with the painful loss of the
