Governor of Bayelsa State, Hon. Seriake Dickson has described Nigeria\u2019s second republic President, Alhaji Shehu Aliyu Shagari as one of Nigeria\u2019s most iconic, detribalized and foremost democrats.<\/p>\n

In a congratulatory message to the elder statesman, who just clocked 89, Governor Dickson extolled Shehu Shagari for his unique and exemplary leadership qualities, noting that he was sterling and most remarkable in his service to the nation.<\/p>\n

Governor Dickson posited that tolerance, honesty, selflessness, patriotism and love were some of the qualities the former president brought to bear in his political career.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
He described his accommodating and exemplary lifestyle as tools that built bridges of unity and understanding among the diverse people and cultures of the nation.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cAs President of our great country and in all the several leadership positions that you were privileged to occupy, you brought to the fore such positive attributes as tolerance, honesty, selflessness, patriotism and love, rising above all manner of divisions.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
You demonstrated an uncommon capacity to build bridges of unity and understanding amongst the diverse people and cultures of our nation and above all, you were very accommodating and exemplary\u201d<\/p>\n
Governor Dickson advised politicians to imbibe these positive virtues exhibited by Shagari in order to move the nation to greater heights.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese are virtues all political leaders, especially we the younger politicians of this generation should emulate and espouse\u201d<\/p>\n

While praying God to grant him good health and wisdom, Governor Dickson urged him to continue to contribute meaningfully to the growth of the nation\u2019s democracy and its development in general.<\/p>\n
