{"id":23410,"date":"2014-02-26T00:05:32","date_gmt":"2014-02-25T23:05:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=23410"},"modified":"2014-02-26T00:05:32","modified_gmt":"2014-02-25T23:05:32","slug":"alleged-missing-20-billion-okonjo-iweala-insists-on-the-whole-truth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/alleged-missing-20-billion-okonjo-iweala-insists-on-the-whole-truth\/","title":{"rendered":"Alleged Missing $20 Billion: Okonjo-Iweala Insists On The Whole Truth"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy Dr.<br \/>\nNgozi Okonjo-Iweala has demanded to know the whole truth about the alleged<br \/>\nmissing $20b which the suspended Central Bank Governor, Mallam Sanusi<br \/>\nLamido Sanusi said is missing from the federation account.<\/p>\n<p>A statement Tuesday from the finance ministry to the BBC, said the<br \/>\nminister, \u201c asked for urgent action with regard to an independent forensic<br \/>\naudit of conflicting claims of unaccounted funds made by the Nigerian<br \/>\nNational Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and suspended Governor of the<br \/>\nCentral Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mallam Sanusi Lamdio Sanusi.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the BBC, the direct statement from Dr Okonjo Iweala, said,<br \/>\n\u201cMy position on this has been clear from the start. The Ministry of<br \/>\nFinance\u2019s reconciliation showed a shortfall of $10.8bn in NNPC remittances<br \/>\nto the Federation account. After this, the conflicting claims continued<br \/>\nwith new figures such as $20bn being mentioned. So since 13th February I<br \/>\nhave called for an independent forensic audit. President Goodluck Jonathan<br \/>\nindeed announced last night that there will be an investigation into<br \/>\nwhether there are any funds missing from NNPC.
