Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has
\ndescribed the killing of dozens of students at the Federal Government
\nCollege, Buni Yadi, Yobe State as ignoble, wicked and horrendous.<\/p>\n
In a statement issued in Abuja by his Special Adviser on Media and Public
\nAffairs, Malam Imam Imam, Tambuwal tasked security agencies to redouble
\ntheir efforts and change their tactics especially now that those engaged
\nin the killings have increased their attacks on softer targets.<\/p>\n
He said the only way to console the families of the victims and Nigerians
\nis by fishing out perpetrators of the dastardly act by bringing them
\njustice.<\/p>\n
“While attending prayers organised to mark the 89th birthday celebration
\nof former President Shehu Shagari in Sokoto, my attention was drawn to the
\nhorrendous act of barbarity visited on innocent college students in Yobe
\nState.<\/p>\n
“My first thoughts go to the families and friends of the kids brutally
\ngunned down in an act of cowardice by people whose humanity must be called
\nto question.<\/p>\n
“While we must all join hands to bring this insanity to an end, we must
\nhowever bear in mind that we are running out of excuses in our
\nresponsibility to our citizens.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe in the House of Representatives feel the grief and pain of the
\nfamilies of the victims. In this their hour of need, we will stand with
\nthem hand in hand, shoulder to shoulder. We assure them that as brothers,
\nwe will continue to confront headlong, the threats of terror facing our
\nnation, and we know we will come out stronger, and victorious.\u201d<\/p>\n
While expressing sympathy with the families of the victims, Tambuwal urged
\nNigerians to be more vigilant and to help security agencies with useful
