The Rivers state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused Gov Rotimi Amaechi of lying over his absence at the Centenary event during the week in which eminent Nigerian leaders, other state governors and about 48 Heads of Governments and World leaders were in attendance.<\/p>\n
In a statement signed by the Special Adviser, Media to the state PDP chairman, Jerry Needam, the party described Amaechi\u2019s action as a disappointment and a daring\u00a0slap on the face of the people of the State, the Niger Delta region and the people of the South-South.<\/p>\n
The PDP observes that Amaechi makes no pretence in telling the world of his hatred and unrestrained disrespect, and insubordination to President Goodluck Jonathan and the Federal Government.<\/p>\n
It further regrets that such act of insubordination is coming from a person who is believed and seen to be having a relationship with it, as a governor of a State in which it (PDP) controls as a dominant\/majority political Party.<\/p>\n
The PDP recalls that governor, speaking at an occasion in Port Harcourt a few days ago said he did not attend the Centenary event to take his own pound of flesh on President Jonathan whom he said was not present at the Port Harcourt Centenary recently organized by him.<\/p>\n
The Party notes a glaring conflict in Amaechi\u2019s claims who said while addressing his loyal lawmakers in his office in Port Harcourt today,\u00a0March 3, 2014, that the reasons for his absence at the Abuja event marking the Nigeria Centenary was the wanton destruction of lives in parts of the North and general unemployment in the country.<\/p>\n
The PDP wonders why the governor will at this point, blame his actions on the inability of the Federal Government to provide jobs, when he could not provide employment for the teeming unemployed and underpowered youths on the streets of Port Harcourt during his celebration of the Port Harcourt Centenary, noting however that Amaechi\u2019s absence could not mar or halt the event as it turned out to be one of the most successful celebrations of the Jonathan administration.<\/p>\n
To the PDP, Amaechi is one governor that speaks from both sides of his mouth, which marks him as an attention-seeker and Nollywood actor, believing that in demonstrating his leadership ability, he must change his styles and behave like a civilized and responsible leader.<\/p>\n
The party also describes as disturbing, the persistent efforts and disposition of the governor in ensuring that President Jonathan does not only fail, but is removed as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.<\/p>\n
This, the party believes, will not succeed, but would rather spur the President to deliver on his mandate to Nigerians.<\/p>\n
The party called on the people of Rivers not to fail to pay back to Amaechi in his own coin.<\/p>\n
