Aliko Dangote foremost Nigerian industrialist and philanthropist has
\nendowed Dangote Foundation with N200 billion. Speaking in Lagos, Mr.
\nDangote noted that, \u201cDangote foundation is now 20 years old. This initial
\nendowment will assure that Dangote Foundation has secure and steady
\nfunding to carry out its mission as we significantly scale up our work.
\nThe reconstituted board of trustees includes, Aliko Dangote, Sani Dangote,
\nHalima Aliko Dangote, Olakunle Alake, A B Mahmoud (SAN), Aigboje
\nAig-Imoukhuede, Angela Adebayo, Hajara Adeola and Yvonne Ike. And last
\nyear we appointed Adhiambo Odaga, Managing Director to grow the Dangote
\nFoundation team. The stage is set now for the next stage of our
\ninstitutional growth.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr. Dangote further stated that, \u201cGoing forward- from the second quarter
\nof this year, we will lay greater emphasis on youth and women empowerment
\nthrough large scale efforts that cultivate meaningful change in their
\nlives.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr. Dangote established Dangote Foundation in 1994 to extend the impact of
\nhis growing business operations. Current interventions that focus on youth
\nand women, includes national cash transfer programme designed to
\ncomplement state governments\u2019 poverty alleviation programmes by providing
\nN 10,000 grants to at least 1,000 women and youth in each of Nigeria\u2019s 774
\nLocal Government Areas, LGAs. It has already reached 256,500 women and
\nyouth across the 157 local government areas in Kano, Jigawa, Kogi,
\nAdamawa, Yobe and Borno. The next phase of cash disbursement will target
\nselect states in the South-West geopolitical zone.<\/p>\n

The innovative N10 Billion Dangote Foundation\/Bank of Industry micro,
\nsmall and medium enterprises fund stimulates economic growth and job
\ncreation. Dangote Foundation\u2019s funds are offered at zero percent interest
\nrate while Bank of Industry\u2019s funds are offered at ten percent interest
\nrate resulting in an effective interest rate of five percent which is the
\nlowest interest rate credit available in the country. One hundred and
