The nomination of Godwin Emefiele as the Governor of the Central Bank of
\nNigeria, CBN, has not gone down well with those who lost out in the plump
\njob prompting moves to block his approval at the Senate.<\/p>\n
Pointblanknews.com has uncovered moves by some people who lost out of the
\napex bank job to block the confirmation of Emefiele as the CBN Governor.<\/p>\n
The plot has now reached the Senate with some Senators opposed to the
\nsuspension of Sanusi spearheading the move.<\/p>\n
Prior to the suspension of Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as the CBN Governor, those
\nbeing tipped to replace him include Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, Tunde Lemo,
\nDr. Sarah Alade, Mallam Isa Yuguda, Faith Tuedor-Mathews, Dr, Bright
\nOkogu, Alhaji Suleiman Barau, Dr. Kingsley Chiedu Moghalu and Dr. Abraham
\nNwankwo.<\/p>\n
A senator from the North Central, who would not want his name in print,
\nindeed confirmed to Pointblanknews.com that some of them have been
\napproached to scuttle the nomination of Emefiele.<\/p>\n
Pointblnaknews.com gathered that some who lost out wondered how Emefiele
\nwho was not originally on the list became the preferred candidate of the
\nPresident for the CBN Governor<\/p>\n
A source hinted that as part of the plot to hoodwink the Senate from
\nclearing his nomination, some Senators have started mobilizing other
\nSenators to reject the nomination of Emefiele<\/p>\n
\u201cI have been approached twice already but my answer is that I don\u2019t seem
\nto have anything against his nomination so why would I work to block it.
\nThis is a man who is supposed to work to stabilize the economy so why
\nwould I work against such.\u201d<\/p>\n
Another Senator from the South who would not want to be named confirmed
\nthe plot but said the PDP Senators will truncate any move to stop the
\nnomination of Emefiele.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe know about the plot, we have seen the moves, it\u2019s been a political
\nissue and a very tricky one but we will truncate any move by any Senator
\nor Senators to stop Emefiele\u2019s nomination.<\/p>\n
According to him, \u201cEmefiele is a fine professional gentleman and we should
\nnot bring him into this kind of politics especially at a time we need to
\nstrengthen our economy and keep inflation low.\u201d<\/p>\n
Sources alleged that Senator Bukola Saraki, an ally of Sanusi who
\nallegedly got huge contracts from the CBN has been one of those linked
\nwith the plot.
\nAlthough, Pointblanknews.com could not reach him to either deny or confirm
\nthe allegation but sources said he has not only spoken against the
\nsuspension of Sanusi but has also threatened not to support the nomination
\nof Emefiele.<\/p>\n
Aig Imoukuede, Tunde Lemo, a former Deputy Governor, Sarah Alade, Alhaji
\nSuleiman Barau are all alleged to be very bitter that after it all seem
\nthat one of them was going to get the job, someone who was never in the
\nrace and who never lobbied got the nomination.<\/p>\n
According to a source, \u201csome of the people believe they have spent time
\nand resources lobbying to get the job and for them it is heartbreaking to
\njust lose out like that so they intend to fight on and see if they can
\nfight on to create reasons for the rejection of Emefiele at the Senate\u201d<\/p>\n
It was also gathered that foot soldiers of Sanusi are also pushing against
\nthe nomination of Emefiele to help them buy time for the court case Sanusi
