A group, Concerned Imo Citizens has asked the Economic and Financial
\nCrimes Commission (EFCC) to probe the abandoned 18 storey hotel complex in
\nOwerri, the state capital.<\/p>\n

Chairman of the group, Chief Ceejay Ezebuiro said there was something
\nstrange about the contract, alleging that Bill of Quantity of the contract
\nwas written in Korean language which made it impossible for the engineers
\nfrom the state ministry of Works to read.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Ezebuiro who is a close associate of Gov. Rochas Okorocha added that the
\ncontract worth $52million has since been abandoned after the contracting
\nfirm; Hanjin Nigeria Limited was mobilized with N1billion.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The group boss alleged that the Korean partners of the company have been
\ndeported as they entered Nigeria with visiting visas rather than work
\npermit.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
He urged the anti corruption agency to quiz Okorocha\u2019s alter ego and
\nNigerian shareholder of the firm, Chief Nyerere Anyim to unravel the
\nreason why the contract was abandoned.<\/p>\n

According to him, \u201cIf Chief Macdonald Akano was quizzed in connection with
\nthe controversial Sam Mbakwe Avenue contract; I wonder why Chief Nyerere
\nAnyim is untouchable.\u201d<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Ezebuiro also called on the EFCC to investiagate why a sole
\nproprietorship, Optimum General Services is being engaged either to
\nexecute or sublet contracts running into billions of Naira in the state,
\nadding that according to the Act establishing it, a sole proprietorship
\ncannot execute a contract worth more than N10million.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
He alleged that the company is not only being awarded contracts running
\ninto billions of naira, but is also engaged in subletting contracts.<\/p>\n
