Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the All Progressives Congress
\n(APC) of\u00a0working with external forces to undermine the country’s democracy.<\/p>\n
The PDP in a statement by its spokesman Chief Oliseh Metuh said “We have
\nobserved\u00a0the ill-conceived and wicked offensive deployed by the APC wherein it has now
\nresorted to attacking the personality of individuals and institutions of
\ngovernment\u00a0using a section of the media.<\/p>\n
“In the last few days, the media have been awash with paid write-ups and
\nadvertorials by the APC using resources meant for the development of their
\nstates to\u00a0castigate, discredit and ridicule PDP officials and other well meaning
\nindividuals\u00a0in the country.<\/p>\n
“It is rather despicable that instead of coming out with tangible\u00a0explanations that
\nwould delink it from the negatives for which Nigerians have rejected it,
\nthe APC,\u00a0now haunted by its ugly shadow, has resorted to yet another diversionary
\ntactics of\u00a0propaganda, blackmail and falsehood, this time, using paid consultants
\nmasquerading\u00a0as newspaper columnists to attack and insult individuals including the
\nperson of\u00a0President Goodluck Jonathan.<\/p>\n
“We however wish to restate that the PDP is not perturbed by these attacks
\nand they\u00a0cannot deter us from exposing the APC. We completely stand by our position
\nthat the\u00a0APC is a party of unpatriotic persons whose agenda is to destroy our
\ndemocracy and\u00a0the unity we enjoy as a nation.<\/p>\n
“This wave of attack is clearly part of APC\u2019s \u201cJanjaweed\u201d ideology of
\ndestruction\u00a0and inciting the people against individuals, especially government
\nofficials, in\u00a0furtherance of the plot to undermine the system and balkanize the nation
\nalong\u00a0ethnic and religious lines ahead of the 2015 general elections; an agenda
\nwhich has\u00a0already failed.<\/p>\n
“We are aware that the APC has engaged the services of foreigners who have
\nsince\u00a0been imported into the country to do the hatchet job in collaboration with
\nthe paid\u00a0consultants who pocket as much as N5 million naira for each negative
\npublication.<\/p>\n
“We are however aware of failed efforts by the APC to compromise credible
\nNigerian\u00a0columnists and bloggers, who for the love of our dear country and fear of God
\nrefused to be made agents of destabilization.<\/p>\n
“Nigerians must insist that the APC declares the source of the billions of
\nnaira\u00a0with which it is sponsoring the negative publications. We must ensure that
\nthe funds\u00a0are not coming from the resources meant for the development of their
\nstates where\u00a0the people are already subjected to untold hardship on account of the
\nlooting and\u00a0heavy taxes by the APC.<\/p>\n
“As an ill-bred party, it is not surprising that the APC has continued to
\nexhibit\u00a0crass hatred for the President even to the extent of unleashing their
\nthugs to\u00a0attack innocent citizens for the singular reason of being in possession
\nof posters\u00a0of President Goodluck Jonathan.<\/p>\n
“Nigerians are now aware that the APC is a party of hypocrites; of wolves in
\nmessianic robes seeking to deceive with the promise of change. We wish to
\nstate\u00a0categorically that the APC as presently constituted has nothing to offer.
\nIt is not\u00a0an alternative to the PDP neither is it an option to Nigerians. Its
\norchestrated\u00a0mantra of change remains cosmetic, hypocritical and hollow, unless we now
\nspeak of\u00a0change from democracy to dictatorship.<\/p>\n
“By every indication, the APC is a rudderless ship heading for crisis and
\nself\u00a0destruction. We want Nigerians to note that whilst the leaders of the APC
\nhave\u00a0continued to focus on attacking people and causing confusion, the PDP has
\nfocused on\u00a0sensitizing the people as well as strengthening and expanding its support
\nbase.<\/p>\n
“Whilst the APC leaders have relegated their duty of organizing their
\nparty ahead of\u00a0elections and remain fixated on mischief, PDP leaders are working hard to
\norganize\u00a0our members in all the states, local government and wards of the country
\nfor a\u00a0successful outing in 2015.<\/p>\n
“Nigerians must note that as we match towards the general elections, the
\nAPC has no\u00a0single democratic structure on the ground. It still lacks genuine
\nfollowership and\u00a0has no defined presence at the grassroot. On the other hand, the PDP
\nremains the\u00a0party with the largest number of members and supporters and shall continue
\nto be\u00a0committed to the national interest for the good of all.<\/p>\n
“We wish to remind the APC that he who fails to work, works to fail. This
\nis the\u00a0ultimate fate that awaits them in 2015 and they should have nobody but
\nthemselves to\u00a0blame. Of course, as bad losers, the only plan the APC has perfected is to
\nincite\u00a0the people and unleash mayhem in furtherance of its greater plot to
\ntruncate our\u00a0democracy by reenacting the ugly experience of December 1983. This agenda
\nhas also\u00a0ailed as Nigerians are no longer in the dark regarding who the true
