Late indications of breast cancer other than a lump may include thickening different from the other breast tissue, one breast becoming larger or lower, a nipple changing shape or becoming inverted, skin puckering or dimpling has resulted to the early death of many young women.<\/p>\n

Based on this backdrop, the winner of the 2013 edition of Miss Abia State Beauty Pageant organized by Family Love FM Radio and Silverstone Communications on June 2013, Miss Reginald Ibeleme have taken it upon herself to raise awareness on the cankerworm with the aim of fighting it to the barest minimum.<\/p>\n
Through her Regina Ibeleme Breast Cancer Awareness Project (RIBCAP), Miss Regina will work with young girls and women in Abia State to increase their awareness of breast cancer, whereby encouraging them to pass the information to their families and other members of the society about the symptoms of breast cancer, both with the need for constant examination of the breast to detect changes in their breasts and knowledge of the breast screening programs.<\/p>\n
X-raying further on her plans, she opined that RIBCAP will use interactive sessions and face-to-face strategies to raise awareness among the girls and women, enabling the message through them reach various families and the society at large. \u201cThe campaign will involve seminars, radio and television jingles and partnership with appropriate stakeholders\u201d.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, she further stressed that the mission of RIBCAP will be to explore, identify and reveal the reasons for high occurrences of breast cancer in this generation, by working towards its eradication through creation of a healthier environment for women in the future generation.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will conduct adult forums at various Local Government areas of the state. And we will generally carry a lecture format, where estimate of 500 people in each forum. We will bring professionals in cancer management as guest speakers. Also in school, reach about 1000-3000 students over the course of the year, using power points, interactive games, songs and so on,\u201d she enthused.<\/p>\n
