The Pan African conglomerate-Dangote Group-has donated 12 trailer load of
\nrelief material worth N40 million to the Benue State Government.
\nThe relief material, according to the Group, is meant to support the
\nongoing effort of the state government to bring succor to the victims of
\nthe recent crisis that affected some parts of the state.<\/p>\n
Speaking at the occasion for the formal handover of the items to the
\ndisplaced persons in Makurdi, President and Chief Executive of the Dangote
\nGroup, Alhaji Aliko Dangote said: \u00e2\u20ac\u0153 We have a very cordial relationship
\nwith our host communities in Benue and it is only natural we identify with
\nthem at a time like this. What has happened is unfortunate and we
\nempathise with all the affected people\u00e2\u20ac<\/p>\n
Dangote who was represented by his Special Adviser Eng Joseph Makoju said
\nthat it was unfortunate that the crisis happened and that the insurgency
\nwas diversionary to the government effort at bringing the dividend of
\ndemocracy to the people of the state.<\/p>\n
He said: \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Governor Gabriel Suswam administration has done a lot to
\nimprove the wellbeing of the good people of Benue State through massive
\nupgrade of infrastructure, empowerment of rural farmers and funding of the
\neducational sector. The infrastructural development in Benue state has
\nbeen significant and his love for his people is unparallel.\u00e2\u20ac<\/p>\n
He said the relief material donated was part of his company\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Corporate
\nSocial Responsibility (CSR) programme in the state that covers: Health,
\neducation, women and youth empowerment and disaster relief.<\/p>\n
He said in Gboko, the Dangote Group has over the years built blocks of
\nclassrooms, constructed water boreholes and provide electricity in
\ncommunities around the Dangote Cement plant. He added that the company
\ngives an annual scholarship grants running into millions of Naira to the
\npeople of Gboko communities.
\nWhile thanking the Dangote Group, the state Governor Gabriel Suswam who
\ninspected the relief items said he was overwhelmed by the donation of the
\nDangote Group. He expressed the state appreciation and prayed that God
\nwill continue to bless Dangote Group. He lauded the CSR activities of the
\ngroup and urged other corporate bodies to emulate the deeds of the
\norganizations by giving back to the society.<\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153 Dangote Group\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s donation today has been overwhelming. We remain
\ngrateful. The People of Benue State are happy with the oganisation\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s
\nactivities and I am using this opportunity to urge other corporate bodies
\nto also give back and make people their priorities.\u00e2\u20ac<\/p>\n
He also applauded job creation activities of the Dangote Group, describing
\nhim, as a man that his doing all within him to make his people satisfied
\nand happy. He however assured the Management of Dangote Group of the
\nState\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s support at all time.<\/p>\n
Speaking also at the occasion, the Executive Secretary of the State
\nEmergency Management Agency Mr. Adikpa Agbatse said the way Dangote
\npackaged the donation makes it easy for distribution.<\/p>\n
He said Dangote Group has demonstrated that it is a Nigerian company that
\nis always interested in the welfare of all the people irrespective of
\ntribe and religion.
\nHe expressed his appreciation and assured the Dangote team that the items
