The Ayo Fayose Campaign Organisation (AFCO) has accused the Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi of planning to bribe each voter in the State with over N2.5 billion during the June 21, 2014, governorship election, saying; \u201clooting Ekiti treasury to buy Ekiti people during the election will fail.\u201d<\/p>\n
Director General of AFCO, Chief Dipo Anisulowo, who made this allegation in a release issued on Wednesday, alleged that several millions of naira has been taken from local government allocation in the last six months to fund Fayemi\u2019s
\nre-election, adding that; \u201cHaving seen that they have been rejected by the people, their plan now is to use what they call \u2018see and buy\u2019 method during the election by N10,000 and even more per vote.\u201d<\/p>\n
AFCO, which described the plan as one that will fail, said; \u201cNo matter how much they choose to pay voters on the Election Day, Ekiti people will vote out this repressive and oppressive government.\u201d<\/p>\n
The campaign organisation urged voters in the State not to sell their votes, saying; \u201cHaving governed a State for close to four years, if you still need to litter the State with posters and billboards to be re-elected, it shows that you have not done well.<\/p>\n
\u201cMost importantly, if you still need to bribe voters with as much as N10, 000 per vote to get votes from the people that you have governed for close to four years, you have no business seeking re-election.<\/p>\n
\u201cTherefore, our advice for Fayemi and his party is that they should follow the path of honour by conceding defeat even before the election, instead of going about, looting Ekiti treasury so as to be able to buy votes.\u201d<\/p>\n
While urging Ekiti people to remain steadfast in their rejection of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate, AFCO said it was confident that \u201cthe people of Ekiti State have made up their minds and no amount of money will make them vote for a party that impoverished them by using borrowed funds to execute non-income yielding projects, and patronising only Lagos, Abuja and Ghana
