Threatens Legal Action Against Incompetent Contractors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Kano State Government has threatened to take legal action against contractors who failed to execute projects according to contractual agreement.<\/p>\n<p>Alhaji Abba Yusuf, the Commissioner for Works and Transport, issued the threat in Kano on Thursday after signing a N1.8 billion contract for three projects in the state.<\/p>\n<p>The projects are the construction of the College of Nursing and Midwifery at Madobi, the Kano Informatics Institute and the Kano Sports Institute at Karfe, Kura Local Government Area.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is a public trust reposed in you (the contractors), so you are expected to carry out the job according to specifications and contractual agreement,\u2019\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n<p>Yusuf warned that the government would not take it lightly with any contractor who executed shoddy jobs.<\/p>\n<p>He said that the construction of the College of Nursing and Midwifery would cost N987.5 million.<\/p>\n<p>He also said that the construction of some structures at the Informatics Institute and the Sports Institute would cost N394.4 million and N397.3 million respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Yusuf stressed that the three projects were part of the 21 institutes initiated by the present state administration in its efforts to empower the youth.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The projects are aimed at providing basic infrastructure and job opportunities to the teeming number of unemployed youths, especially in the health as well as Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sectors,\u2019\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n<p>Responding on behalf of the contractors, Mr Eric Okeleke, the Chairman of Haddock Quest Nigeria Limited, pledged to execute good jobs so as to justify the confidence reposed in them.
