{"id":26154,"date":"2014-05-05T02:23:09","date_gmt":"2014-05-05T01:23:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=26154"},"modified":"2014-05-05T03:10:31","modified_gmt":"2014-05-05T02:10:31","slug":"former-judge-of-the-supreme-court-justice-chukwudifu-oputa-is-dead","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/former-judge-of-the-supreme-court-justice-chukwudifu-oputa-is-dead\/","title":{"rendered":"Charly Boy&#8217;s dad, Justice Oputa dies at 96"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Former Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, Chukwudifu Oputa, 96 is dead.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He died Sunday \u00a0in Abuja<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Justice Oputa, father to popular musician, Charly Boy has been hospitalised sometime in February 2014.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The 96 years old retired Justice of the Supreme Court was said to have suffered from stroke.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to information gathered, Justice Oputa was \u00a0hospitalised in Oguta, his hometown in Imo State.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Recall that Justice Oputa headed the popular &#8216;Oputa Panel&#8217; set up by former President Olusegun Obasanjo when he assumed office in 1999 as a civilian president.<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Justice Oputa, made headlines when he \u00a0sometime ago disowned Charly Boy as a son.<b>He had said &#8220;Charly Boy is not my Son. I think Charlyboy is a character. I don\u2019t have any child as Charlyboy, I have Charles Oputa. I don\u2019t allow Charlyboy into my house, but I have a caring son called Charles,&#8221; he said.\u00a0<\/b><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Justice Oputa who also spoke kindly of his son said he respected his son&#8217;s will so much and can not but support him even right from the day he decided to be a revolutionist.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to him ,\u00a0<b>&#8220;he has his own will, he has been doing what he likes, he has been happy with what he is doing and that is the aim of life. If you are satisfied, contented with the day to day existence, then you are considered a happy man. You may be very rich and happy but not satisfied, but if you are in an atmosphere you like and you have a wife who agrees with you like Charles, then you are lucky. My son is very understanding, loving and shows so much concern and respect for me and her mother. That\u2019s all we need from him at this age.&#8221;<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Justice Oputa continued &#8220;He has lofty visions seemingly impossible to actualize. He pursues those visions with a single-minded doggedness, exhibiting an amazing capacity to build a team and drive them relentlessly toward the realization of his dreams. His advice to the youths to never let anybody kill their dreams is his personal mantra which rules him.
