Voters in Ekiti State have been told not to buy into the alleged dummy being sold to them by incumbent governor Kayode Fayemi, over his recent promise to create new local government area councils in the state.<\/p>\n
This warning came at the weekend by Hon. Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, Labour Party’s governorship candidate during his campaign rally at Aaye Oja Ekiti ahead of June 21st election scheduled to hold in Ekiti.<\/p>\n
Bamidele said Fayemi’s sudden promise to create new area councils was a bunch of lies aimed at hoodwinking the Ekiti people and get their votes.<\/p>\n
He said it was suspicious for Fayemi to have used the council creation as a campaign promise, having failed to conduct elections in the existing ones in the last three and half years.<\/p>\n
He said people of the state should be wary of such promises from Fayemi administration and APC, especially now that it remains just few days to the election.<\/p>\n
According to him, “the people of Ekiti should not listen to the current administration led by Governor Kayode Fayemi on local government creation”<\/p>\n
“As him why he is just coming to offer you such campaign promises at this crucial time with few days to the election?”<\/p>\n
“It is a decoy to get your votes and forget about you after the election as usual. I urge you to cross examine them anytime they make such empty promises”<\/p>\n
“How can a government which has failed to conduct local government election in the last three and half years in the 16 councils is now promising to create new ones?”<\/p>\n
He reiterated that his promise to conduct local government election within six months of assuming office as a governor had not changed.<\/p>\n
Bamidele explained that it was only through periodic council polls that government will be brought closer to the grassroots people while local government autonomy will be ensured.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
