{"id":27384,"date":"2014-06-02T12:06:01","date_gmt":"2014-06-02T11:06:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=27384"},"modified":"2014-06-02T12:06:01","modified_gmt":"2014-06-02T11:06:01","slug":"ill-review-akpabios-wicked-pension-law-umana-umana","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/ill-review-akpabios-wicked-pension-law-umana-umana\/","title":{"rendered":"I\u2019ll review Akpabio&#8217;s  wicked  pension law \u2013Umana Umana"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #37404e; font-family: Helvetica,Arial,; font-size: 14.399999618530273px; line-height: 20px;\">Leading governorship aspirant in Akwa Ibom State, Umana Okon Umana, has vowed to remove the offensive portions of the state\u2019s controversi<\/span><span style=\"display: inline; color: #37404e; font-family: Helvetica,Arial,; font-size: 14.399999618530273px; line-height: 20px;\">al pension law if elected governor.<\/p>\n<p>Umana, the immediate past Secretary to the Akwa Ibom State Government, SSG, also said his mission in politics and indeed, in the governorship race is to share the wealth of the state equitably among those he described as hard working people of the state.<\/p>\n<p>Saying that the resources God had lodged in the state are so enormous that those in the working class and their dependents in the state have no business to be poor or be in a state of want, he said that having serve Akwa bom State for close to 20 years, he was well familiar with the huge deposits of resources, both tapped and untapped, that the state was endowed with.<\/p>\n<p>He made this known in Abuja yesterday when indigenes of Akwa Ibom State held a formal meeting with him.<\/p>\n<p>Vowing to manage the resources of the state effectively in the interest of the people, Umana said: \u201cGod has blessed me and I believe I want to be the governor because I want our people in the state to have a good feel of what they want. Akwa Ibom people with our growing population have no business to be poor and God willing; they will get their due when we come to power.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said apart from oil resources, the next government of the state to be piloted by him would tap on the human resources in the state to brace education, science and technology, agriculture, health delivery, transportation, international trade and commerce and many more.<\/p>\n<p>He vowed to remove the controversial pension law signed recently by the state governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio, which made provisions for many controversial financial benefits to past governors and their deputies, describing it as \u201cobscene, provocative and insensitive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Some of the controversial provisions of the pension law include N100 million annual medical allowance for every past governor; N30 million for a former deputy governor; N5 million monthly allowance (N60 million annually) to a former governor for his domestic staff and a 5-bedroom mansion in Uyo or Abuja for every former governor.<\/p>\n<p>National mirror<\/span><\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Leading governorship aspirant in Akwa Ibom State, Umana Okon Umana, has vowed to remove the offensive portions of the state\u2019s controversial pension law if elected governor.
