President of the Senate, Senator David Mark, yesterday described the killing of six Soldiers and two Police officers who were members of the Joint Task Force in Damaturu, Yobe State, describing their death as shocking as barbaric and inhuman.<\/p>\n
Senator Mark added that their death was a painful loss as they died in active defence of their fatherland.<\/p>\n
A statement signed by Special Adviser, Media & Publicity to the President of the Senate Kola Ologbondiyan said \u201cThey died in active defence of the people as well as their fatherland. They will not die in vain because their acts of valour shall be etched on the conscience of our nation\u201d he further said.<\/p>\n
Commiserating with the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Azubuike Ihejerika and the Inspector nGeneral of Police (IGP), Senator Mark urged them not to relent in their fight against Boko Haram and other forms of terrorism in our country, adding that the rank and file must also keep their obligation to the nation.<\/p>\n
The President of the Senate also reiterated his call on the leaders and members of the Boko Haram sect to accept the dialogue option offered by the Federal Government in order to halt the spate of senseless killing in the country, particularly in the North.<\/p>\n
He expressed condolences to the Government and people of Yobe State as well as the families of the officers and men who died in the attack.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
