A new Emir of Kano will be announced on Sunday from the list of contenders submitted to Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of Kano.<\/p>\n
Contenders for the throne include the immediate past governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, who holds a traditional title of Dan Maje Kano, his uncle, Sanusi Abbas who holds the title of Wambai Kano and Sanusi Ado Bayero,\u00a0 first son of the late Emir, who is the District Head of Gwale.<\/p>\n
Other contenders are the Galadiman Kano, Alhaji Tijjani Hashim, including two other Prince, Aminu Bayero and Nasiru Bayero.<\/p>\n
The four persons who made the list could not be ascertained as at the time of going to press.<\/p>\n
It would be recalled that the late Bayero ascended the throne in 1963 and reigned for 50 years until his death and was buried in the pyramid city of Kano few hours later in accordance with Islamic rites.<\/p>\n
However, King makers have commenced\u00a0 closed-door meetings to shortlist three names, among the eligible contenders\u00a0 for Governor Rabi\u2019u Musa Kwankwaso\u2019s approval.<\/p>\n
The Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has said that the state government will announce the name of a new Emir of Kano on Sunday.<\/p>\n
The governor said this on Saturday after receiving the Emirate\u2019s kingmakers at the Government House, Kano.<\/p>\n
The kingmakers who visited the governor are the Madakin Kano, Yusuf Chigari, and the Sarkin Dawaki, Bello Abubakar.<\/p>\n
Other kingmakers are the Makaman Kano, Abdullahi Ibrahim and Sarkin Bai, Mukhtar Adnan.
\nThe late Emir, Ado Bayero, was named the successor a day after the death of his father, Abdullahi Bayero.<\/p>\n
A list containing four names was submitted to Mr. Kwankwaso who will give final approval according to tradition.
