{"id":27765,"date":"2014-06-10T05:57:47","date_gmt":"2014-06-10T04:57:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=27765"},"modified":"2014-06-10T05:57:47","modified_gmt":"2014-06-10T04:57:47","slug":"uba-targets-new-generation-of-customers-with-next-gen-account","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/uba-targets-new-generation-of-customers-with-next-gen-account\/","title":{"rendered":"UBA Targets New Generation of Customers with Next-Gen Account"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>United Bank of Africa (UBA) Plc is set to build a new generation of loyal<br \/>\ncustomers with its new suit of products tailored to meet the unique needs<br \/>\nof teenagers and young adults.<\/p>\n<p>The product \u201cNext-Gen\u201d account, which was launched at Intercontinental<br \/>\nHotel on Monday, is basically a suit of personal current accounts designed<br \/>\nto offer special privileges and opportunities to account holders.<\/p>\n<p>Though the product is designed as a current account, holders have the<br \/>\nopportunity of automatically being enrolled for savings accounts as well.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the launch of the Product, Femi Olaloku, Executive Director,<br \/>\nTreasury and International Banking who represented the bank\u2019s Group<br \/>\nManaging Director and Chief Executive Officer, Phillips Oduoza said \u201cNext<br \/>\nGen is about capturing and engaging the next generation of educated and<br \/>\nenlightened professionals, employees, entrepreneurs, self employed<br \/>\npersons, from all walks of life, early in their financial life cycle.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The UBA Next-Gen Account is designed to appeal to the educated and<br \/>\nenlightened teenager and young adult from ages of 13 to 34.\u00a0 The product<br \/>\ncomes with features that fit into the unique needs of customers based on<br \/>\ntheir age.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a product that grows with the customer from his or her teenage<br \/>\nyears to when he or she becomes a young adult. Next Gen is unique in the<br \/>\nbanking industry because it is not really a product. It is a partnership<br \/>\nwhere the bank is taking on a mentorship role to guide customers into a<br \/>\nfuture life of prosperity.\u201d Olaloku explained.<\/p>\n<p>He also said that the Next Gen account has been designed to take care of<br \/>\nevery young person\u2019s unique needs from when he or she first breaks into<br \/>\nhis or her teenage years at 13 to when he or she is on the border of full<br \/>\nadulthood at 34.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt takes care of the unique needs of teenage customers when they are in<br \/>\nsecondary school through university to when they get their first job,<br \/>\nstart a family and even consider building their first house. At each of<br \/>\nthese critical stages in their lives, the Next Gen account\u00a0\u00a0 provides<br \/>\nfinancial options and opportunities to make life more comfortable for<br \/>\nthem and their family.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Breaking down the unique features of the Next Gen account, Iyke Idukpaye,<br \/>\nHead, Current Accounts and Credit Products, UBA Plc explained that<br \/>\nTeenagers who open a Next Gen account will become part of the UBA Teen Fan<br \/>\nClub, which offers great opportunities and great networking.<\/p>\n<p>He also explained that as teenagers with a Next Gen account grow and gain<br \/>\nadmission into tertiary institutions, they will enjoy great mentorship,<br \/>\ninternships and career advisory reserved only for account holders.<\/p>\n<p>The benefits of being a Next Gen account holder extends further as account<br \/>\nholders graduate and prepare for the world of work and business. At this<br \/>\nstage, account holders will enjoy exclusive invitations to job and career<br \/>\nfairs as well as entrepreneurship workshops.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Account holders will also have access to 24 hour online banking services<br \/>\non UBA\u2019s highly acclaimed internet banking platform besides other<br \/>\nprivileges like specially branded Mastercard, interest bearing savings<br \/>\naccounts, career advisory, scholarships, work place experience schemes<br \/>\nwith the UBA Group, entrepreneurial skills development workshops and<br \/>\nsocial media engagements.<\/p>\n<p>Students from different secondary and tertiary institutions attended the<br \/>\nlaunch event. Aina Oyawande, a student of University of Lagos, commended<br \/>\nUBA for introducing the product saying the incentives attached will make<br \/>\nher open an account with the bank.<\/p>\n<p>Falz, a musician, who addressed the students on the need to imbibe a<br \/>\nsavings culture, described Next Gen as a \u201cgreat initiative\u201d which will<br \/>\nattract young entrepreneurs like him to open an account with UBA.<\/p>\n<p>Also Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, of big brother fame called the product<br \/>\n\u201cinnovative\u201d saying that it was great that UBA has developed such an<br \/>\nincentive packed product for the youths.<\/p>\n<p>The UBA Group is a highly diversified financial services provider, with<br \/>\nbusiness offices in New York, Paris and a subsidiary in London.
