\u2026Says He is Not An Ngwa Son<\/strong>
\nControversy has trailed the alleged governorship ambition of the Group
\nManaging Director and Chief Executive Officer of Diamond Bank PLC, Dr.
\nAlex Otti.<\/p>\n

For months, rumours have been making the rounds in Abia political circles
\nthat Otti may throw his hat in the ring to contest for Abia state
\ngovernorship position in 2015.<\/p>\n

The rumours which were being discussed in whispers have spread like
\nwildfire since the top banker was conferred with a chieftaincy title of
\nUgwumba 1 of Ngwa land by \u2018Ndi Eze Ala Ngwa\u2019 (Traditional Rulers of Ngwa
\nLand) at Umueleghele community in Isiala Ngwa council area last Friday.<\/p>\n

Pointblanknews.com gathered that Otti\u2019s alleged governorship ambition has
\nbeen greeted with controversy since it broke out because of the
\ncircumstances surrounding his origin. Otti is said to hail from Arochukwu
\nin Abia North senatorial zone but his father settled in Umuru, Umuehim in
\nEhi Na Uguru Ancient community in Isiala Ngwa South council area in Abia
\nCentral senatorial zone.<\/p>\n

According to a resident of the Umuru Umuehim village who spoke to
\nPointblanknews.com at the venue of the chieftaincy installation, \u201cOtti\u2019s
\nfather, Lazarus who was a Pastor of the Seventh Day Adventist church was
\nfrom Arochukwu but migrated to Umuru, Umuehim community where he was given
\na land to build in the olden days. You know how the Aro people migrate,
\nanywhere they are accepted becomes their home. Alex Otti is from Arochukwu
\nand not a freeborn of Umuru Umuehim let alone Ngwa land.<\/p>\n

“He is claiming to be from Ngwa land to enable him contest the
\ngovernorship election. Does it not surprise you that Alex Otti built his
\nfirst house in Arochukwu and recently built another one in Umuru, Umuehim;
\nperhaps to enable him qualify for the contest? So, they know what they are
\ndoing, I blame our traditional rulers for selling out and not telling the
\nwhole truth about Alex Otti\u2019s origin.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pointbalnknews.com further gathered that the plot to \u2018fully make Otti a
\nfreeborn Ngwa son\u2019 was hatched by the traditional ruler of Isi Eketa
\nAutonomous community, Eze Nelson Achilefu Nmerengwa who conscripted other
\nmonarchs in the deal on which the latter was allegedly settled with a
\nprincely sum.<\/p>\n

In a resolution passed by the Oha Ngwa Traditional Rulers Council at their
\nmeeting held at Aba Town Hall titled,” Grand Reception and Award of
\nChieftaincy Title to a Worthy son”, the monarchs in a letter addressed to
\nOtti and signed by Eze Friday M. Ikpeazu, Eze P.O Oguibe, Eze Nelson A.
\nNmerengwa; Chairman of Council, Secretary to Council and Chairman, Board
\nof Trustees, respectively, decided to organize a civic reception where a
\nchieftaincy titled will be conferred on him.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn arriving at this decision, the Council views you as \u201cNgwa\u201d by birth
\nthough \u201cArochukwu\u201d Biologically and have carefully recorded your growth
\nand impressive antecedents from birth,\u201d the resolution read in part.<\/p>\n

The deal is said to have caused divisions among the traditional rulers in
\nNgwa land who believe that some forces are propping Otii to contest for
\nthe Abia governorship seat in 2015. Sources told our correspondent the
\ncontroversy over Otti\u2019s origin was behind the boycotting of the event by
\nthe State Chairman of the Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Eberechi Dick
\nand some top monarchs from the area.<\/p>\n

Prominent indigenes of Ngwa land like Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, Elder
\nEmmanuel Adaelu who have been the leading voices in favour of a power
\nshift to Ukwa\/ Ngwa zone were also absent from the event. First Attorney
\nGeneral of Abia state, Barr. Theo Nkire who was billed to chair the
\nceremony withdrew three days to the date through repeated media
\nannouncements which led to\u00a0 the ex council chairman of Isiala Ngwa LGA,
\nChief Anthony Agbazuere being\u00a0 propped up to stand in Nkire\u2019s place.<\/p>\n

The chieftaincy installation which held under the auspices of nebulous
\nbody known as \u201cNdi Eze Ala Ngwa\u201d attracted the presence of Gov. Theodore
\nOrji, former Anambra governor, Mr. Peter Obi and Rivers state First Lady,
\nJudith Amaechi whom Otti thanked for attending the event but added that he
\nmissed her husband, Gov. Chibuike Amaechi who he said, assured him of his
\npresence.<\/p>\n

Other dignitaries who graced the event are the Deputy Speaker House of
\nRepresentatives, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, Obi of Onitsha and Chairman Diamond
\nBank, Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe, Imo PDP Chairman, Barr, Nnamdi Anyaehie, among
