The governor-elect of Ekiti state, Mr. Ayo Fayose, on Sunday thanked the
\npeople of the state for voting for him and promised to work with Governor
\nKayode Fayemi in developing the state.<\/p>\n
Fayose spoke at a maiden news conference in Ado-Ekiti after he was
\ndeclared the winner of Saturday\u2019s gubernatorial election by INEC.<\/p>\n
The governor-elect recorded a resounding victory with a total vote haul of
\n203,090 out of the 350,256 votes cast.<\/p>\n
Fayose, who called on other candidates to support his administration,
\nwarned his supporters against making disparaging remarks which may promote
\nviolence.<\/p>\n
He particularly warned against attacks on the personality of the incumbent
\ngovernor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, saying, \u201cwe must respect each other so as to
\nallow peace to reign in our dear state.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cGovernor Fayemi has called to congratulate me and I am determined to
\nreciprocate this humble and kind gesture,\u201d Fayose said.<\/p>\n
Fayose also pledged to work in particular with Fayemi and Opeyemi Bamidele
\nof Labour Party in order to draw from their wealth of experience.<\/p>\n
The governor-elect also said indigenes of the state would benefit from
\naward of contracts, saying this would boost the local economy and create
\nemployment.<\/p>\n
Fayose further promised to assist all victims of political violence during
