The All Progressives Grand Alliance is re-strategising to win the
\ngovernorship polls in Lagos State in 2015, the Chairman of the party in
\nthe state announced on Monday.<\/p>\n
\u201cAPGA is repositioning its structures to take over the governorship seat
\nof Lagos State,\u2019\u2019 Mr. Campbell Umeh-Nzekwe, told the News Agency of
\nNigeria in Lagos.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have observed that Lagos is a one-man-show state; which is why we want
\nto change that oligarchy.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur structures are totally different from other political parties and we
\nare a movement.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe hear people say that we will go into alliance to be able to achieve
\nthis but we are saying that going into alliance is not in our agenda.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are winning the election on our own strength,\u2019\u2019 he added.<\/p>\n
Umeh-Nzekwe, a one-time governorship candidate of APGA in 2003, said the
\nneeded change in the state would be given by APGA.<\/p>\n
He said that the party would revive all its structures to achieve its aim.<\/p>\n
Umeh-Nzekwe said the strength of the party lied in the votes it would get
\nfrom various Igbo groups, town unions and their leaderships in Lagos.<\/p>\n
He noted that indigenes of Anambra in Lagos State were made up of 177
\ntowns\u2019 unions; Imo State 210 towns\u2019 unions; adding that the same was the
\ncase with Abia, Ebonyi and Enugu States.<\/p>\n
Umehnzekwe said the party would reach out to the groups during their
\nsittings to tell them what was required of them ahead of the election.<\/p>\n
He urged Lagos residents to join the party, saying that \u201cit is a platform
\nthat will give them a chance to exercise their fundamental and democratic
\nrights as citizens.\u201d<\/p>\n
The chairman said that one did not need to be a card-carrying member to
\njoin the party.<\/p>\n
He said that three aspirants had already shown interest to run for the
\ngovernorship race under the platform of APGA.<\/p>\n
The politician advised youths to see reason on why they should not waste
\ntheir votes, saying that APGA would provide them free education from
\nprimary to university levels.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnybody who attends a university in Lagos State is entitled to security
