{"id":28553,"date":"2014-06-28T04:05:39","date_gmt":"2014-06-28T03:05:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=28553"},"modified":"2014-06-28T04:05:39","modified_gmt":"2014-06-28T03:05:39","slug":"police-foil-terror-attack-in-kano-discover-high-profile-explosives","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/police-foil-terror-attack-in-kano-discover-high-profile-explosives\/","title":{"rendered":"Police Foil Terror-attack In Kano, Discover High Profile Explosives"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>Police in the northern Nigeria city of Kano foiled what would have looked like a replay of January 20, 2012, when working on a tip off by a 10-year old boy saved hundreds of lives in Kano on Friday.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0A rickety Toyota car primed with 13 high caliber Improvised Explosive Devices, (IEDs) was discovered by the police near a Juma\u2019at Mosque.<\/div>\n<div>This is coming just five days when a suicide bomber blasted School of Hygiene, killing eight people and wounding 20.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0Hhundreds of Muslim worshipper and residents of Sauna Fafunga in Dakata area of Nasarawa Local Government Area, were the target of the terrorists.<\/div>\n<div>The IEDs which was primed to blow off at about 2 P.M. , just after Juma\u2019at prayers.<\/div>\n<div>Pointblanknews.com gathered that the 10-year old boy had notified the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Dakata, Superintendent Sani Ahmed that he suspected a rickety car parked by the side of the Mosque.<\/div>\n<div>\u201cThe DPO immediately contacted the Bompai police headquarters for prompt response by the Anti-bomb squad which came on time to save the situation,\u201d a security source said.<\/div>\n<div>Mr. Adenrele Shinaba, the state Commissioner of Police, described the bombs as high profile, adding that it has the capacity to shake the foundation of Kano.<\/div>\n<div>In his words while briefing journalists, \u201ctoday, being Friday, at a place called Sauna Fafunga in Dakata area; we got information that we should come and see a vehicle that was parked within the vicinity of a Juma\u2019at Mosque. Our anti-bomb team responded promptly. On searching the vehicle, we discovered high caliber IEDs, about 13 in number which can rein a whole village.<\/div>\n<div>\u201cWe asked people to leave the area and when we detonated one of them, it shook the majority of the buildings around the area; and in fact, one of the buildings had a big crack as a result of that. The IEDs had the capacity to pull down all the structures around that area. We also discovered ammunitions; and their intention was to stay around and shoot people who could escape the explosion.<\/div>\n<div>\u201cI am an advocate of community policing; and I appreciate the support we have been receiving from members of the public. We appreciate the people of Kano and we urge them to continue to support us with useful information.
