There are indications that President Goodluck Jonathan has sent to the Senate, the name of Corp Marshall of the Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC), Osita Chidoka, to be considered as the new Aviation Minister.<\/p>\n
Chidoka, if cleared, would replace Stella Oduah for the Anambra state slot.<\/p>\n
Since Oduah\u2019s exit from the Jonathan cabinet in February Anambra has been without a Minister representing it in the cabinet. The delay in replacing Oduah was as a result of some disagreements between interest groups in \u00a0 Anambra politics.<\/p>\n
Pointblanknews.com learnt that although Jonathan had favored \u00a0the immediate past governor of the state and member of the rival All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Peter Obi for appointment as Minister, some Anambra politicians especially members of the People\u2019s Democratic Party, PDP did not like it.<\/p>\n
This group even used \u00a0 newspaper advertorials to trash \u00a0the decision by the state chapter of the party to nominate the former governor for ministerial position.<\/p>\n
The Anambra state working committee of the PDP led by Kenneth Emekanyi had recommended Obi after its 98th meeting and hinged its action on the ex-governor\u2019s superlative performance in office as well as his wide acceptability.<\/p>\n
But a petition to the National Working Committee of the PDP signed by Mike Okeke on behalf of a section of the party in the state accused Emeakayi of anti-party activities for .<\/p>\n
Presidency\u2019s sources said \u00a0that \u00a0the President Jonathan settled for Chidoka so as to to douse the tension being generated in Anambra over who gets the state\u2019s slot in the federal cabinet. Apart from Obi, Nigeria\u2019s former Ambassador to Austria, Jerry Ugokwe has also been severally linked with a ministerial position to replace Oduah.<\/p>\n
