The chairman, PDP Board of Trustees (BOT), Chief Tony Anenih, has said
\nPresident Goodluck Jonathan would contest the presidential election in
\n2015 on PDP platform.<\/p>\n
Anenih said this while addressing party faithful at the maiden zonal tour
\nof the south-south by the new PDP chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mu\u2019azu, on
\nTuesday in Calabar, Cross River.<\/p>\n
\u201cI want the national chairman to go home with a word from the father that
\ncome 2015, Jonathan will run for presidency for the second term,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He said that the party was becoming stronger in the south-south, adding
\nthat \u201cif we continue like this, the load in 2015 will be lighter than the
\nload in 2011″.<\/p>\n
The BOT chairman further said that the party had worked hard for next
\nweekend\u2019s governorship election in Osun, adding that PDP was sure of
\nclinching victory in the election.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are working and we are sure that we will win Osun, come Saturday,\u201d he
\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Mu\u2019azu said the party would ensure that internal democracy prevailed in
\nits choice of candidates for various elective positions in 2015.<\/p>\n
He said that the party would not entertain any short-cut or favouritism in
\nselecting the candidates, advising PDP members and supporters to shun
\nrumour mongering and falsehood because of their implications on party
\nsuccess and stability.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe opposition has seen that we are winning in all fronts and they are
\nready to destroy us. Therefore, let us be careful as we are in a very
\ntrying time,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Gov. Ibrahim Dankwanbo of Gombe State, said that the north-east PDP was in
\nfull support of Jonathan\u2019s administration.<\/p>\n
\u201cI want to assure the people of south-south that we in the north-east are
\nin solidarity with you and the president.<\/p>\n
\u201cI want to assure you that we, the PDP governors in the north-east, will
\nwork to ensure that President Jonathan returns as president in 2015,\u201d the
\ngovernor said.<\/p>\n
