Members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in South South zone have\u00a0adopted President Goodluck Jonathan as their presidential candidate for the\u00a02015 general elections.<\/p>\n

In a stakeholders meeting today [5-8-14] in Calabar, Cross Rivers State,\u00a0convened by the national chairman of the party, Alhaji Adamu Muazu as part\u00a0of his tour of geo-political zones of the country, members of the party\u00a0assured Alhaji Muazu that the South South zone will vote overwhelmingly for\u00a0President Jonathan to re-emerge as the country’s President in 2015.<\/p>\n

Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State, his counterparts in Bayelsa,\u00a0Seriake Dickson, Akwa Ibom, Chief Godswill Akpabio and the host Governor,\u00a0Senator Liyel Imoke attended the meeting which was also attended by the\u00a0Chairman, Board of Trustees of the PDP, Chief Tony Anenih and other\u00a0officials of the party including political office holders attended the\u00a0meeting.<\/p>\n

Chief Anenih emphatically said, “South South is the home of PDP, I want\u00a0the national chairman of our party to go home with a word from the father\u00a0of President Jonathan that come 2015, Dr Jonathan will run for the\u00a0Presidency,” noting that the zonal tour of the national chairman of the\u00a0party “will strengthen the party and all of us should talk to our people at\u00a0our communities because, if we continue like this, the load will be much\u00a0lighter in 2015 than it was in 2011.”<\/p>\n

To Governor Uduaghan, the PDP led government has ensured that South South\u00a0zone is the sporting base of the nation observing that athletes from Delta\u00a0State made Nigeria proud in the recently held Commonwealth games and on the\u00a02015 general elections, the Governor asserted, “the PDP is doing it, PDP\u00a0will do it again and again.”<\/p>\n

The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Chief Akpabio stated, “in our state there\u00a0is no shaking when it comes to victory for the PDP, Akwa Ibom is safe for\u00a0the President and our state will be among the first states to give the PDP\u00a0more than one million vote in the 2015 Presidential elections,” while\u00a0Hon. Dickson said, “we in Bayelsa are very happy with the support you are\u00a0giving Mr President who is building a new Nigeria, Bayelsa is safe and\u00a0steady for the PDP.”<\/p>\n

Senator Liyel Imoke noted, “the cry of endorsement shows that President\u00a0Jonathan is performing, we thank the national president for bridging every\u00a0gap that has existed and we will work with you to deliver our successors to\u00a0the PDP.”<\/p>\n

The national chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Muazu commended the people for\u00a0their confidence in President Jonathan’s administration and called for\u00a0caution check destabilizing moves of the opposition political parties.<\/p>\n

“You must not allow opposition to put us on coalition course, we must be\u00a0very careful as we move ahead, if you have facts and figures, challenge me\u00a0or those who matters but, don’t spread rumors,” he said, adding,\u00a0“our leader, President Jonathan has performed creditably well and we must\u00a0work and have respect for one another, we must work together for the\u00a0purpose of today and the future generation.”<\/p>\n

Others who spoke at the occasion include, Chief Diepreye Alamieyeseigha,\u00a0Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, Deaconess Elizabeth Essien, Senator Ita Enang, Chief\u00a0Dan Orbih, among others listed the reasons why President Jonathan should\u00a0recontest in 2015.<\/p>\n
