{"id":29958,"date":"2014-08-07T13:41:50","date_gmt":"2014-08-07T12:41:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=29958"},"modified":"2014-08-07T13:41:50","modified_gmt":"2014-08-07T12:41:50","slug":"ebola-senate-president-asks-striking-doctors-rise-national-emergency","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/ebola-senate-president-asks-striking-doctors-rise-national-emergency\/","title":{"rendered":"Ebola: Senate President asks striking Doctors to rise up to national emergency"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;.directs Health Committee to collaborate with agencies to combat the disease .<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0President of the Senate, Senator David Mark has asked striking Medical Doctors to see the outbreak of the Ebola virus\u00a0 disease in the country as a national emergency that necessitate the immediate suspension of their strike and return to duty.<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0Senator Mark told the Doctors to be patriotic enough to put aside whatever grievances or misgivings with government and return to their duty posts to save the situation.<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Failing to hearken to this national call, he opined is akin to sentencing the citizens of Nigeria to untimely deaths.\u00a0<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0Besides, Senator Mark pointed out that\u00a0 it will be a disservice to humanity and a total betrayal of their noble and revered profession .<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0The Senate President reminded the Doctors of the Hippocratic oath\u00a0 sworn to\u00a0 on graduation that the primary duty of the Doctor is to save life far above other considerations.<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0Part of the modern\u00a0 Hippocratic oath\u00a0 written in 1964 by Academic Dean of the school of medicine at the Tufts University, Louis Lasagna according to the Library guilds at the Johns Hopkins University states &#8221; I will prevent disease whenever I can, for prevention is preferable to cure.<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0&#8221; I will remember that I remain a member of society with special obligation to all my fellow Human\u00a0 beings those sound of mind and body as well as infirm.&#8221;<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0For the avoidance of doubts, Senator Mark stressed &#8221; No body is opposed to the Doctors&#8217; demands.
