The Senate President had waded into the imbroglio .<\/p>\n<p>Mark, Delta State Governor Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan,\u00a0 a medical doctor , Senator Tunde Ogbeha and\u00a0 Senior Special Assistant to\u00a0 the President on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okukpe met with the Doctors from Tuesday night until Wednesday morning in\u00a0 the Apo residence of the Senate President.<\/p>\n<p>Senator Mark had at the closed door meeting reminded the Doctors of the implications of the strike\u00a0 to the health of the citizens if they continue.<\/p>\n<p>Indications were that government complied with a reasonable number of their demands following which they resolved to brief their members before the final decision\u00a0 to call off the action.<\/p>\n<p>However, Dr. Obembe said he would not give the exact date and time when the strike would be called off until he report back to his members since &#8220;the meeting with the Senate President is very useful and successful.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Unlike the notion in some quarters that the striking Doctors abandoned the nation in this trying times of major Heath challenge on account of the outbreak of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD), he clarified that &#8220;there was never a time we refused to respond to the national emergency, we have been alive to our duties as professionals and to our father land&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Obembe stressed that doctors were not unmindful of the health challenges faced by the nation at the moment but needed government to correct some abnormalities in the health sector to make it more effective and responsive to the health care needs of the citizens.<\/p>\n<p>Mark had\u00a0 Sunday night met with the striking doctors during which he pleaded with them to return to work in the citizens just as he promised to table their grievances before Mr. President with a view to finding answers to them.<\/p>\n<p>Signed:<br \/>\nPaul Mumeh<br \/>\nChief Press Secretary to the President of the Senate.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"slot_RS2\" style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"slot_FSRVY\" style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"yui3-css-stamp\" style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"mobilizer\" class=\"mobilizer-in-nav\" style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Striking members of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) are set to end the industrial action embarked upon following disagreement with the federal government\u00a0 over alleged unpaid allowances.
