{"id":30731,"date":"2014-08-30T15:28:16","date_gmt":"2014-08-30T14:28:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=30731"},"modified":"2014-08-30T15:28:16","modified_gmt":"2014-08-30T14:28:16","slug":"mark-excited-doctorss-reinstatement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/mark-excited-doctorss-reinstatement\/","title":{"rendered":"Mark  excited  over Doctors&#8217;s reinstatement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;Thanks President Jonathan\u00a0<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Senate President,\u00a0 Senator David\u00a0 Mark has expressed appreciation to the Federal Government for reinstating the 16,000 resident Doctors\u00a0 sacked during their\u00a0 two months strike action.<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Senator Mark had waded into the strike action following the disagreement between the federal government and the Doctors\u00a0 over unpaid arrears arising from hazard and relativity allowances among others.<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">During the strike action, the federal government unilaterally sacked all resident Doctors and suspended residency training .\u00a0<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The then striking Doctors under the aegis\u00a0 of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) vowed not to return to work until government reverses the decision sacking them.<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Senator Mark had pleaded with them to go back to work and give him the benefit of doubt to\u00a0 meet the executive arm of government to think otherwise about the sack.<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It was on upon his intervention that the Doctors agreed to suspend the strike\u00a0 action and went back to work.<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">On hearing that the federal government has through the Health minister Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu reinstated the resident Doctors, Senator Mark who expressed delight thanked President Goodluck Jonathan for the gesture.<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Senator Mark also appreciated the NMA for calling off the strike and directing its members to return to their duty posts forthwith .<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">He therefore enjoined the Doctors to reciprocate the gesture by rendering\u00a0 excellent services they have been known for especially under the current health care challenges orchestrated by the out break of Ebola Virus Disease ( EVD).<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">According to Senator Mark, &#8220;strike should be avoided at all cost especially in critical sectors like health. Dialogue remain the option to any dispute no matter the circumstances.
