{"id":31489,"date":"2014-09-25T04:28:23","date_gmt":"2014-09-25T03:28:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=31489"},"modified":"2014-09-25T04:28:23","modified_gmt":"2014-09-25T03:28:23","slug":"gov-ahmed-flags-kwara-sports-summit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/gov-ahmed-flags-kwara-sports-summit\/","title":{"rendered":"Gov Ahmed Flags off Kwara Sports Summit"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1411615376621_2568\" dir=\"ltr\" style=\"color: #000000;\">\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1411615376621_2567\" class=\"yiv1961111499gmail_quote\">\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1411615376621_2573\">\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1411615376621_2572\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1411615376621_2571\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" align=\"center\">Kwara State Governor, Dr Abdulfatah Ahmed has flagged off the State Maiden Sports Summit with a call on governments at all levels to actively support and promote sports in all its ramifications as a way of enhancing national unity.<\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1411615376621_2588\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1411615376621_2587\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1411615376621_2586\">Governor Ahmed said achievement of excellence in sports is anchored on long term planning, early identification and growing of talents and private sector participation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1411615376621_2585\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1411615376621_2584\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1411615376621_2583\">\u201cfor me, normative sports development with the endpoint in mind, with a clear idea of where we want to be, in what sports, with what resources and based on clear yardsticks, I hold, therefore, that success in this vital sector lies in adopting a corporate structure in which strategic long-term planning and private sector participation are critical success factors\u201d, he submitted.<\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1411615376621_2582\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1411615376621_2580\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1411615376621_2579\">The Governor was of the view that for effective and result oriented sports administration, the private sector should play active role while government should be an enabler of a condusive environment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1411615376621_2581\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dr Ahmed said it was expected that the Sports Summit, with the theme, \u201cSporting Nation, Sporting Kwara: Setting the Winning Agenda\u201d, would fashion a framework for sporting excellence by leveraging on identified areas of strength of Kwara State.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He reiterated his administration resolve to restore the state\u2019s past glory in sports, especially in some sports.
